AOS Approved!!!

On Nov. 7th, my husband and I finally went to our AOS initial interview in Oklahoma City, OK! After much prep and stress, the process was actually very easy and laid back. Our IO was very nice and helpful. Our appointment was scheduled for 2:15, but we arrived at 2:00. We waited till 2:25 before we were called back to her office.

As we walked in, my husband and I commented (jokingly) at the three huge stacks of files on her desk. The IO joked back and then swore us in. She asked the typical questions like birth dates, parents names, wedding date. However, during the interview, the IO made a comment that made my ears perk up.

I had a previous issue with my Canadian passport, so we were explaining to her that whenever we travel, customs pulls me aside to view my file, once they read whatever is in there, they let me enter. She mentioned that once i have my resident card, it might make my traveling a little bit easier. Mind you this was pretty early in the interview. As soon as she said that, I relaxed and knew that it was gonna be a piece of cake from then on.

She asked for anything with both of our names, so i handed her joint checking account statement, and she asked to keep it. After that she looked at our pictures, and even shared a story about her own daughters wedding.

After she went through the file and evidence, she told is that we were granted the AOS and that we should expect the card in the mail in two months. She then explained that we will have to take the restriction off after two years of the Green card. After we were told everything about the process, my husband and I sat there and talked to the IO for about 15 minutes about what other kinds of people come in her office. She mentioned to us that we were the most legitmate couple she has seen all day!

Anyways so just for curiousity, I went online to see my case status today and this is what it said:

Current Status: Card production ordered.

On November 7, 2008, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you.

WOOO-HOOO! I just wanted to write my experience because Ive been reading other peoples for some time now. I sent my package on May 29th of this year, and was approved for a GC by Nov. 7th!!!
