Not that it has any practical effect on the election, but it appears Barack Obama has picked up one more electoral vote, this time from Nebraska.

Nebraska's second congressional district had been too close to call Tuesday night. But a count of 15,396 early voting ballots in Douglas Country gave Senator Barack Obama a 1,260-vote lead over Senator John McCain.

About 75 percent of the votes in the district come from Douglas, the mostly urban county around Omaha, and the rest come from suburban Sarpy County.

Although as many as 5,300 provisional ballots remain in Douglas County and 801 provisional ballots remain in Sarpy County (where only a portion of those count for the second C.D.), it seems unlikely that Mr. Obama will lose his lead when these ballots are counted by the middle of next week.

The Omaha Herald reached the same conclusion yesterday.

The last Democrat to win an electoral vote from Nebraska was LBJ, 44 years ago, but Johnson won the whole state. This is the first time Nebraska has had to divide its electoral votes.

Missouri's 11 electoral votes remain undecided, though McCain is expected to prevail.

Conservative intellectual () Robert Novak believes Obama doesn't have a mandate:

Obama's win ... neither received a broad mandate from the public nor the needed large congressional majorities.

Maybe that was before the old ** heard about Omaha.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

Now we can call it a landslide.

 You have to see past all the grumpy, gloom and doom posts made by many here who are upset with the election results. They don't represent the sentiment of most Americans. They'll get over it...eventually.

Sure, a 6% victory margin (7.4 million votes) on the popular vote and a landslide on the electoral college doesn't translate into a mandate. Some "intellectual" reasoning that is. These guys just don't get it that their politics and policies have been rejected by America.
