Not trying to silence anyone. I am only participating in this thread as a VJ member....Why cannot? I just happen to disagree with one of your points.....No harm, no foul.

And, honestly, if a person were to lodge such a threat cause they hate him so badly, killing him would just make him a martyr. I don't think that would achieve the goal of a hater one bit.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Do you honestly think he is getting any more death threats then other presidents (president-elects)? I can't imagine Bush hasn't had a whole lot of them.

Kennedy and Reagan were shot, and Sarah Palin was not implicated in their misfortune.

Wow, the last few pages are not surprising. Drama stirring involving the same usual suspect.

And this case in the OP is why I don't ever want that ###### Sarah Palin anywhere near the White House. If she had been VP this nation would be an even bigger joke than George W Bush made it into.

Sinergy, don't believe VW. She's can't even tell the difference between a college and a University. Just ignore her. Her reason can be used to fool kids, but, she likes to invoke hatred. Lame. And, everyone here knows as you can see. Even the supporters for McCain have put her outside the loop. It's not worth the effort. She reason in circles. I ignore her since I know nobody listens to her.

As this article is from the Huffington Post, I'm sure Virtual Wife will short-sell any of the fundamental wisdom contained herein:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/charles-kear...d_b_134052.html

.........."Simply pause for a moment and imagine in your mind's eye either of the following two scenarios. I rise from my desk, pick up a simple black pen, find a piece of blank white typing paper, print the words, "Off with his head," and mail it to the Obama for President campaign headquarters after I have inscribed my return address on the envelope. Or, I attend a presidential rally for Senator Barack Obama or Senator John McCain, and while standing in the crowd, I yell, "Kill him." "Treason." "Off with his head." "Terrorist."

In either event, I assure you -- in fact, I would bet you a nickel -- that I would soon understandably and justifiably find myself being detained by the Secret Service for a lengthy questioning and possible felony arrest.

Governor Palin and Senator McCain individually and collectively speak of Senator Obama as someone engaged in direct or indirect acts of terror against the United States of America. To accomplish these elaborate public accusations, Governor Palin and Senator McCain must first meet with their staffs; draft the specific language of their speeches; review, edit and approve the specific language of their speeches; deliver their stump speeches repeatedly; and then witness and enjoy the effect their speeches create in the crowds.

Again, if I sat down in a room with a group of men and women tacitly sworn to a common goal that involved violently haranguing a presidential candidate, I would for a second time submit that I would be detained by the federal authorities and questioned and possibly arrested.

Every few years or decades, we are taught or re-taught that the United States of America is a nation of laws and not of men or women with power and influence. Presidents have been impeached and resigned office. A vice president pleaded nolo contendere and resigned his office. Congressmen have been fined and jailed. The laws of the United States apply to everyone all the time equally. Presidential candidates are no exception.

Year after year, the security of the President and other high officials becomes more precarious. Yet, Governor Palin and Senator McCain are now engaged in the pattern and practice of inciting hate groups of every sort. They give their political crowds the red meat of hatred and bigotry and racism. When public figures behave in such an atrocious manner, it gives others permission to ape their opinions and permission to act upon their own deepest prejudices.

No one expects the Secret Service to sit Senator McCain and Governor Palin down and read them the Riot Act about inciting acts of violence. However, it would not be out of balance in the real world for the Secret Service to point out the security risks involved in McCain and Palin daily roiling their supporting crowds to the point of their becoming a mob and thereby endangering another presidential candidate.

Lastly, it may possibly be true that technically neither Senator McCain nor Governor Palin could ever be convicted of threatening Senator Obama, a presidential candidate. But this metaphor is true. Senator McCain and Governor Palin have walked right up to the line of what is legal and illegal and have spit across it."

A Kansas City lawyer and supporter of Barack Obama for president has filed suit in federal court, alleging that the Republican ticket has incited violence against the Democratic nominee.

In her suit against Sen. John McCain, Gov. Sarah Palin and campaign manager Rick Davis, Mary Kay Green said she has been injured by their campaign tactics and suffers “terror of the heart, anxiety and grave fear” for Obama’s life.

Green, an occasional contributor of letters to the editor for The Kansas City Star on legal and political issues, said the GOP campaign has used false hate speech to work their supporters into a frenzy, leading to death threats against Obama.

In an interview, Green said she worked as a young woman in the presidential campaigns of both John and Robert Kennedy in Nebraska. Though she has asked for $6 million in damages, Green said the money is not important. The suit is a moral plea to the Republicans to temper their language, she said.

“I will not tolerate another assassination,” Green said. “I have an obligation as an attorney to speak out and use my voice to say to John McCain and Sarah Palin that you must stop this behavior. You are participating in these death threats and have lost all protection from the First Amendment.”

Not that it matters in the least to me what you or sinergy believe, I do find your measure interesting. I haven't ever discussed the difference between a college and a university, so upon what basis do you attempt to give the impression that that is why I should not be believed? It's illogical, and considering how much you flaunt your supposed logic skills, that's very telling.

The way I invoke hatred is by showing up, that's all, and the insult war is on. The vitriol is triggered by simply that. It's become fashionable to attack me, as if it is part of a gang initiation and bonding experience. The only crimes I've committed here are not drinking the kool-aid, and not peppering my posts with girlie qualifiers like "I think","I believe", "Maybe", and other such words that denote uncertainty about my stated postion. I also haven't asked permission from the horde to have a different opinion; insisting on holding onto an unpopular one until I am convinced by substantive events to change it.

I seriously don't understand how you can be so easily impressed and inspired by someone like BO whose rhetoric signifies nothing and hold yourself out as an intellect at the same time. You have applied none of the logic skills you tout as an inherent part of your personality. You have provided no analysis, shown no doubt, hestitated not one moment in your endorsement of an empty suit. You are all about groupthink, not reason. That's why you encourage others to ignore me, as if a shunning ritual is the means by which you shut out conflicting viewpoints. It's easier to do that than to explain why your "powerful" brain is so enamored of Obama, which is the question that brought on all this rancor. It takes fewer brain cells to villify someone than it does to make a reasoned, sustainable argument. When brain cells are in short supply, opt for the former!

I'm sure you are comforted by the other groupthink types that egg you on. My views, being out of your narrow paradigm, threaten your ability to justify your worldview. If not, you would not feel an imperative to push me out of the conversation. What harm does my questioning your insular reasoning do that your next move is to try to enlist others in my shunning, to an give the impression that no one likes me or listens to me? We are not in high school here. You don't even ignore me yourself, as you invoke others to do so.

Your assessment of Palin has been equally sophmoric and simplistic. My assessment of you, based on your inability to articulate your adoration in ways that make sense, are that you are merely a go along to get along type. I see no mental agility in your posts, innnovation, re politics. It is clearly an area where you have little sophistication. On this board, that flies for some, but not for me. And your assumption that everyone ignores me, that the so-called "McCain people" have also disowned me is self-serving and prejudicial, based on nothing. FYI: "Nobody I know listens to her" is not a valid reason to make such an assumption and to line up others for your cause. Neither is "everyone here knows", since that's not even demonstrable on this thread. Your frail attempts to marginalize me are transparently weak and amateurish.

Do I sometimes think about the group dynamic on this board that has a handful of people trying to shutter a few who refuse to follow the kool-aid crowd? Yes, I find it fascinating and a bit troubling for our future. Do I care beyond that? No, I choose not to.

Have you ever stopped to consider that when given the option of it being EITHER 99.999% of the people on this board are mean, vitriolic, out-to-get-you, etc OR -perhaps - you are just a know-it-all, self-righteous, grating #$%#$, it's much more likely to be YOU, rather than the rest of VJ?

Been in the MENA forum lately?

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.
