As for 'talking about the issues'...I find it ironic that you claim that the Repubs didn't, because I saw O's campaign as nothing but hot air and platitudes and empty of any real meat to the 'issues' we are facing today. I also find that the Dems also ran a campaign of fear, although in a slightly veiled way....'Change! cos otherwise we're in the crapper!'...can you really say that is not based in fear? Btw...Not all 'change' is good, and while it's a great slogan, there's no substance IMO behind it other than a great speech by a charismatic man. Tony Robbins is also a great speaker and a charismatic man, but that alone does not qualify him to be President, either.

So at the end of the day, for the sake of our country, I hope I am wrong about O cos I think he's very Carter-esque in his policies, Kennedy-esque in his wide-eyed ignorance, among other things. But to bring this back on topic, what was said by Palin was true and you cannot dispute that. Whether some nutcase hears the TRUTH and chooses to break the law and morality by deciding to kill someone, well the onus for that is on that individual.

This was the question, in light of the fact that Obama says nothing, what is so admirable? What is so inspiring? That he went to elite schools? So many before him have done the same, and they don't all reap the pass BO has gotten. He has not given us details or depth in presenting his plans for the future. He does remind me of Carter, the first disasterous vote I cast. And because he died so young, Kennedy has become more myth than man.

Palin is old news, and if she is revived, there will be conservatives to thank. If BO comes to harm, it will be because that happens every so often, and cannot always be avoided. If that happens, it will certainly not be Palin's fault, and we will deal with it at that time. For now, government brought to us by Pelosi, Reed and Obama is our immediate concern.

Word! Palin told the truth! :D Rejoice! Looks like Africa is truly a country. We've been fooled.

"If SP misspoke about Africa then everything else she says is immediately false' Is that what you're trying to say?

Surely you're not trying to say that Sarah Palin is not an idiot, because there is a vast amount of proof that she IS an idiot.

She can "see" Russia from Alaska.

She can't name a single magazine, newspaper, or book that she's read.

She has no idea what the Bush Doctrine is.

She fell for the radio prank.

She didn't know which countries were involved in NAFTA. My CAT knows which countries signed that agreement.

She didn't know Africa was a continent.

When answering questions she hadn't rehearses, she included the answers to ALL questions that she HAD rehearsed.

Face it. Sarah Palin is a moron. Yes, yes, she's obviously better than me since she got elected as governor. heard all of those arguments before. She's still a moron.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Has polite gone out of fashion?

Here, indeed it has. You are being attacked for being thoughtful and less than incendiary. I tried that, but it doesn't work. It is perceived as weakness. The message is not the object of the reader's comments; it is the way it is delivered and you cannot win unless you are always agreeable to the mob.

Well, you could always give it a go again, you know.

Thx, but I could post pics of kittens and bunnies all day and it wouldn't help.

I don't think she had intentions of causing his life to be in further danger by her remarks, but it is sad that it caused that.

I don't believe in reading others minds, but I do believe in extrapolating intent from actual actions. And her actions are clear and their impact couldn't be clearer - even to Sarah. I do believe she tried to get him killed.

She stated the truth...he does have dubious ties to terrorism....what people do from there is up to them.

Good grief. The assumption there is that this Bill Ayers is/was a dangerous terrorist during any associations with Obama. If he is/was such a danger at those times, we is not in Guantanamo? While he had belonged to a group that did some deplorable things back in the 60's, he is not a threat to anyone today which is why he a free man. Obama's associations were with Ayers, the Professor of Education at the University Chicago.

When Right Wingers simply roll their eyes back over the picture of Donald Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam Huissen back in the 80's (a reminder of our close ties with Saddam as an ally even though we knew he was ruthless tyrant), or the fact that we supported Bin Laden's fighting forces back in the 80's with arms and training as nonconsequential in who those two historic 'evildoers' became, but jump on Obama's innocuous association with Ayer's, a true double standard is established.

Ok, so was it no big deal that Rumsfeld shook SH's hand? Was it no big deal that we supported Bin Landen?

The double standard is indeed established!

Those two associations have long been down played by Right Wingers as unimportant. The double standard was established when they didn't apply that same line of thinking with regard to Obama.

Was it at all important to you?

Not suggesting that.

I'd just like to see us all be able to discuss the issues without reading **, Repubican, kool-aid drinkers, jesus freak, and the like.

I'm totally serious. Nobody likes a good debate better than me. I'm just really sick of the broad paintbrush approach, especially when it's inflammatory.

Politics is not the same as friendships. It's the same in defense law, you lie down with fleas sometimes to meet a need. Who Obama chose to associate with only says that he, too, will be very comfortable shaking hands with dictators and supporting "our" terrorists. It doesn't make him different from Rumsfeld.

Palin is no more a moron than Obama is a Messiah. They have been pegged in those roles by the media, but, in reality, it doesn't define them.

Has polite gone out of fashion?

One-sided politeness indeed has. Not really into playing the games VW does when it comes to politics.

Regardless of what Ayers was doing at the time he met Obama....his history didn't change. That and other ties that Obama had may not be relevant to you or obviously a majority of the people, but it was most certainly important to me. And again, these are facts that no one can dispute...the only thing that can be disputed is whether or not it's 'relevant' and I can certainly say for me and many others that it absolutely was. It is damning, and perhaps that's why supporters are so upset by them being brought to light, but it is what it is. And it has nothing to do with Bush's associations.

I'm not an Obama supporter, yet I am unfortunately affected by people's inability to move beyond such a retarded issue as this. I am not afforded the rightful debate during the Presidency because people decide that because of what Ayers did, and paid for, well before he ever met Obama, that Obama is somehow responsible for Ayers past? If he was a dangerous guy he wouldn't later end up being a professor at a state university around a bunch of students. Only to someone either politically uneducated or politically contrived would still be harping on this.

But ask yourself, if McCain had a link to terrorists and religious organizations with openly racists religious leaders....would you dismiss it so easily? I think not. You don't have to be honest with me, but at least be honest with yourself.

If these past associations had nothing at all to do with his current Presidency, of course not. Why? Because EVERY politician, just like every single person, has friends or someone they know, or an associate, or a business partner, who either cuts corners or has done something criminal in their lifetime.

As for 'talking about the issues'...I find it ironic that you claim that the Repubs didn't, because I saw O's campaign as nothing but hot air and platitudes and empty of any real meat to the 'issues' we are facing today. Tony Robbins is also a great speaker and a charismatic man, but that alone does not qualify him to be President, either.

His campaign was rather positive. I doubt anyone can run a campaign based entirely on negativity -- look at the McCain camp as no further proof of this. Firstly, his plans were to un-do Bush's tax cuts which should have been undone years ago. This is logical. McCain wanted to further Bush's tax cuts. Really ###### stupid. Secondly, Obama's foreign policy is clearly not so much about pre-emptive striking or proving something to the world as it is talkign to people like peers. Obama got plenty of flak for going to Syria, but this represents an open hand, rather than a pointed gun.

It's very clear other countries are more willing to work with Obama, and more people are willing to vote for someone who wants to remain on legitimate issues, rather than obsessing over everyone in a candidate's life.

It's very clear Palin couldn't really speak much of said legitimate issues because 1) she embarrassed herself on them, as it was evident she knows economics like she knows foreign policy, geography, and pretty much everything else, 2) because stupid people keep falling for it. If Republicans aren't demanding more of her, why bother? It was working. There's the "FACTS" for you.

It isn't Obama's responsibility to answer to nutcase conspiracy theorists and politically motivated attacks with nothing to do with any of the issues facing the country.

That argument implies that he understands the concept of 'fleas'.

Much different than calling the gathering of fleas a 'dubious association'.

Ahh yes, reliable sources like the nutjob conspiracy theories about Obama not being an American citizen, or, oh yeah, ACORN causing so many fraudulent votes to be cast.. damn Mickey Mouse. Yes, you've shown how objective your sources are. They're about as objective as Palin is intelligent.

She is not to blame for death threats. However, is she smart enough to know that the kinds of speaches she was asked to read appealed to an emotional invective or not? If she is, then she is responsible for inciting it, and might be expected to know that at the end of a rally, that kind of emotional string pulling doesn't just dissipate, in fact the idea is that it lingers long enough to pull the voter into the voting booth if not then clearly the American public is well shot of her on the national scene.

I don't understand the Ayers association logic. Do those that think this 'association' is wrong believe that Ayers should be locked up at the moment?

Our relationship with Saddam and with OBL were consequential. With OBL, I don't think anyone thought he'd turn around and use the skills he learned from our military against us, or that Saddam would get aggressive with one our allies, but they both bit that hand that fed them.

With Obama's association - it is totally innocuous. He was not meeting Ayers for a Weather Underground Reunion or terrorist plot. They both were board members at the University of Chicago. While Ayers blew up a statue in the 60's, OBL killed thousands of Americans. While the Right Wingers certainly tried hard and seem to continue to try and paint Obama with a guilt by association, rationality hit that argument like a ton of bricks, which is why the majority of American voters didn't let such rubbish sway their vote. I hope this is put to rest, but I realize that the Right Wingers will not relent. In the meantime, Obama's got real issues to face when he's sworn into office.

You aren't the least bit objective, so don't pretend to be. You pronounce yourself above it all and proudly throw away your vote so you can stand for anything or nothing, and exist to batter anyone you wish to here. Other than that, you exist for nothing.
