That is what the K3 is intended for, but its more complicated than the CR1 because you have 2 years to file the adjustment of status which will give him a greencard. With CR1 he comes with greencard. My I130 was approved before I got an RFE for pictures on my I129F, so I just abandoned the k3 to go with k1. The AOS is a little over $1000. It's all a personal choice. Good luck!

The fee is waived for FILING THE I-129 after the I-130. so no harm in filing it. you can always choose the path you want to take later. ...also, are there kids involved and if so, did you file an I-130 for them too. that also makes a big difference.

Cr-1 is if you are married. It is the I130. (The fee when I did it in May was $355.) The time varies on how long it takes the service center to get the forms processed. It took from May until Sept for me to get my I130 approved, but for others it was quicker and others longer. The NVC will not take too long if you have your information ready. You can pay the $70 for the Affidavit of Support the I864 and $400 for the IV and you can do that online. Once you have paid it online you print a coversheet and send in the forms and appropriate documents. When the case is complete, they send you a letter and then send another telling you about the medical examination and what you need to know for the interview that will have already been scheduled at the appropriate Embassy by the time you get this letter. Depending on your Embassy will depend how long after the letter from the NVC stating CASE COMPLETE and the interview. I think a good average atm is around 2 months. look at the immigration timelines historical trends and you can see an average for each visa type.

oh i see. that makes sense :) I filed in September and the timeframe is 6 months for the I-130. Someone had told me that whether I file for K-3 visa, it will be the same if I don't file and it will take the same amount of time.

Also, is it possible to request a different place for the interview? Most likely they will send my husband's case to Pakistan, but I would rather it be in Dubai. Is it possible?

I know you are probably asking someone who has done it. I have read a lot of people do it and I plan on doing it once it gets scheduled. I am thinking our interview will be in January.

Oh that's great! I hope everything goes smoothly for you :) I'm praying for my husband to get here in a year or less. I heard of people's spouses coming in about 6-8 months from the Middle East. So I'm hoping I can be one of those people! :)

Thank you and I hope you are one of those people too, just make sure you go to the NVC's website and have everything ready...it will make this part so much faster... pay close attention to the requirements for the Police Certificate requirements for your country. (This is a hang up for lots of people getting the case completed at the NVC.)

Good luck!
