Lot of commercials on TV for these services, here is one of many:

http://www.taxresolution.com/free-consulta...estimonials.asp

"Client's Total Liability: $6,878,404

Settlement: $0

Savings: $6,878,404 (100%)"

"Owed $304,231, Settled for $73.00 AMZAING!" They misspelled amazing.

Just sounds just too good to be true, IRS does not permit freedom from owed taxes even if you claim bankruptcy, and if you did forget to add a zillion dollars worth of deductions, can't add them, but if they find false deductions, you will be liable for those.

Only two ways I can think of how these services can work.

1. They have hackers to get inside the IRS database to change what you owe, like from $304,231.00 to 73 bucks.

2. They tell you to divorce your wife, free her of any tax liability, and then blow your brains out. Well plastic surgery, burning off your finger prints, and leaving the country may work too.

Or is this a deal where you are not only liable to the IRS, but also to the tax resolution service as well? Has to be a catch somewhere.

The only thing I can think of is they're only advertising the super lucky, super great deals they somehow managed to win for people, be it through real lawyering or deals with the devils. I mean, I can understand the IRS removing some of the penalties and late fees in order to get SOME money but the amounts these people are claiming to settle for seem highly unlikely. I really don't know what the catch is but I'm sure there is one.

if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I agree!

Seems like if it is true, everyone can blow their tax bucks, and hit these places to have it written off. Much of the advertising on TV is false, wife learned that the hard way, but filed a dispute with my CC company, make sure you have a good CC company that handles stuff like that, and I got her money back. We use to have an FTC that handled this, but got less government instead. Thought less government meant the EPA, OSHA, and the IRS, not the FTC.
