We are wondering if its always necessary to have SSN before you can start working after getting work authorization stamp on your K1 visa passport?

I read somewhere that one should wait for 2 weeks before applying for SSN as sometimes it takes around 2 weeks for SAVE-AVSI database to be updated...so does that mean we should wait for all this time before we really start working?

or just work authorization stamp at JFK airport is enough?

If you have the work stamp you have employment authorization, just that it might be hard to get hired until you have at least applied for an SSN.
