Julie Myers, ICE big boss, resigns

Julie Myers, the head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), has resigned, the Department of Homeland Security announced this week.

ICE has been at the center of a political storm over its stepped up workplace immigration raids across the country.

Myers was criticized last year for praising a Halloween costume worn by a Homeland Security Department employee. The person was dressed in prison stripes, dreadlocks and dark makeup. Myers later apologized for the incident.

The Department of Homeland Security announced that Myers will depart on Nov. 15.

In a statement, Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff said that Myers "has been a major force in transforming ICE into a 21st century law enforcement agency."

He also praised Myers' leadership of 'efforts to identify and charge criminal aliens incarcerated in our nation's prisons and jails, modernize the removal process and provide enhanced oversight for detention operations."

I do hope that the next one to lead will be better at conducting raids. The brutality has to stop.

yup... but many people seem to ignore or don't give a fukc about that fact.. ICE raids.. can be conducted in a civil way, without beating people, or just grabbing a bunch of people with hispanic names..

how do they know they have a hispanic name? i've yet to see anyone wearing name tags.

They used profiling. This is very common in LAW ENFORCEMENT. They don't really need to know.

Although, at the time of the enforcing, the ICE officer can ask for a name. Nonetheless, at the time of the incident, this is when things get out of hand.

of course I'm referring to racial profiling.. and that proves ICE inefficient, and inhumane towards the illegals.. as I said years ago when this started.. ICE will not be, or will ever be efficient.. just a silly measure to calm down the nativists and 'law abiders'.... if people were real law abiders, they would like to see this process in a justified, humane, and not degrading way.. papers or not, illegals deserve decent treatment..
