It's almost going to be a year since I worked a full time job. What the hell is wrong with me? I did mainly customer service work and have done clerical work and nobody calls me back when I apply with them? Either the job I want is too far away or the only jobs that are out there are bloody telemarketing and I had too many years of that hell to deal with anymore! I left my last job because of the unfairness. I wasn't allowed to sit in certain areas to do my job or wear certain casual clothes but when I turn around, others are doing what I wasn't allowed to do and nobody disciplines them. I tried temporary agencies and the one I went to only found 2 temporary jobs for me then dried up. Jobs I wanted don't even call me to tell me get stuffed, you're not what we want. I wanted to go back to wales this year to see my boyfriend and I am not sure that will happen. I miss him, and I have nothing in my bank account, I have no insurance, I need a new car, so where is the employment that I need?

I hear you hun (L)

It took me about a year to get a permanant part time job, I assumed because I was moving to an area bigger than where I came from it would be much easier...but I was so wrong!

Have you had anyone look at your cv and try and give you advice about it?

At any interviews have you told the potential employers about the problems with past employment?

Have you any qualifications which are making you over-qualified for the job?

Telesales, customer service and factory work is almost the only work available in my area. I am currently in retail and I despise it, I got the job I have now by making myself seem that my design qualification was just an air headed choice and things with my last employers were just peachy (both being total lies and of course my intent to immigrate far far away from them!!!)

I know it's soooo easy to get unmotivated but hang on in there ok!! Is there any more information you could give us?

I'm sorry that your frustrated. I haven't worked for about a year now as well (due to this whole process I have been unable too). That in itself is very frustrating. I do hope your luck soon turns for the good and you will find employment quickly. Don't give up!! ....

That is so very true nessaandcharles ... so very very true. Back home I was working two jobs which was equivalent to full time and going to school full time. I was so busy busy busy. Then I moved here to the states and got married and haven't been able to do anything since, it is very hard.

Thanks guys. I live at home with my parents and sometimes my mum helps me with payments when I can't pay my bills. I don't want to keep taking anymore from my mum. I don't have to pay rent. I find things to do around my home such as draw, paint, or sew. But I feel like doing more. I am thinking that I am doing something very wrong when I get interviewed. I have so many negative memories from my last job, INFONXX, that I think I just take jabs at how lousy they were. I try and not tell them everything but I am horrible at keeping secrets. I'm pretty frustrated already. :(

That's a serious problem right there. NEVER speak ill of a previous job, boss or co-worker. NEVER EVER EVER do that!

As hard as it may seem, focus on the positive things you've experienced in previous jobs and talk about those. The more positive you come across, the better your chances of landing that job you want.

Good Luck!

i agree..that will reflect on you and not them..they see you as negative and a malcontent, who may have a difficult time relating to a team approach...brother rienhard is 100% correct..

:ranting::bonk: Stupid, stupid stupid. Unfortunately, I would say how unsatisfactory Info was. I didn't leave there under the best of circumstances. My supervisor was pretty much a twit. Throughout most of 2005, I went through stuff like nobody has ever been through. I have a nodule growth that got bigger last year, mum had surgery in march but wasn't 100% ok. Throughout about 1 1/2 months, I took her to the emergency and nursed her on my own because my other brothers and sisters are married or living out of town.I put my beloved pet down after long illness. My father is no picnic because he is diabetic and doing a lousy job of keeping it under control. When my former boss got a new assistant, it pretty much sunk all the way to the bottom and I had one last row with this guy before deciding what to do.

I've been pretty much angry with how my life was doing. My boyfriend was my shelter during the storm. He still is. I didn't realize how much I hurt my chances since I left Info. I am going to have to change the strategy when I get an interview. As much as I loathe Infonxx, I have to think of positive things when I was there. I'm still in my rut but perhaps I can get out of it.

Addy, you say you draw, paint and sew...any way of using those talents and sell? There are craft shows, art fairs, even ebay....you never know, you may find yourself in a whole new career  If nothing else, it will bring in some cash and you might feel a bit better.

Best of luck to you (F)
