[i would run my company responsibly and plan for a rainy day.

Of course then the government would want to take more money away from me.

The idea seems to be, "if you suck, we'll give you money; if you're successful, we'll take it away from you".

Ok, so you and SRVT are have superior knowledge and business management skills than the American auto industry. Maybe the two of you could turn it around? And I have never once stated that I think the gov. should bail out GM. I merely stated that it would have a devasting effect on an already collapsing economy. Those who say ** GM have not given much thought to what will happen. Oh, that's right, run to get a job with Toyota or Honda. Send more money overseas.

Damn right! GM's most economical car today gets 25/35 mpg and is hailed as some fukcing

great innovation. Excuse me, but I could get 60 mpg on a three-cylinder Geo Metro 10 years ago!

Their next great engineering feat - the Volt, which won't be ready until 2011 - has a range of

40 miles on battery power. 40 miles, really? Is that the best they can do? Then explain to me

how is it that the EV1 (which they made in 1996 and then killed) was able to achieve a range

of 100-160 miles?

26 lead acid batteries adding about 2,000 pounds of weight, also some electrical fires, and not good to get rear ended in these things, Volt is trying to use a much lighter lithium-ion battery and range was selected based on statistic data. GM never elected to develop a battery, trying to shop around for one.

I've heard some various numbers on the actual costs of the combined Li-Ion battery pack. Sufficed to say, I think that's mostly what makes the Roadster so expensive, even though it gets 200+ miles per charge.

The Volt is suppose to also have an auxiliary gasoline engine for an effective range of 600 miles that is suppose to average 150 mpg. It's really easy to add an electric motor to a vehicle, no transmission is required, PWM variable frequency motor, electronics is dirt cheap, the question is how to power it. Ford and Edison working together spend 10 million bucks and ten years trying to develop a battery for the electrical car. Gasoline was very expensive and very dirty, but they couldn't come up with anything.

Better ideas would be to plug in the wall and generate hydrogen for your vehicle, most efficient engine is the turbine. Even a better idea would be to use compressed natural gas, we are supposed to have a 4,000 year supply of the stuff and the technology already exists.

If you think the HP race was hot in the 50's and 60's, nothing like today with I believe over 12 vehicles in excess of 500 hp, some with a thousand. The sudden increase in gas prices change everything, just like Wall Street. I don't know what's going on, ask Rove or Cheney, they know.

EV are only good way down south, up north here, those batteries will lose 90% of their energy in our cold climates, barely would make it out of your driveway, plus can forget about heating your vehicle.

Buy a BMW. Always reliable and you get 4 yours free servicing to boot. They also leave a bottle of bubbly (not shite stuff either) in the trunk and give you a decent key ring. I saw a BMW earlier today in a custom purple color. The driver looked a bit "council" so I just let it go.

but when that time frame runs out, it's an arm and a leg. i've not heard too many mechanics tout a bmw due to the high cost of replacement parts. and i'm certain that cost is also reflected in the insurance costs too.

I plan on telling the democrats the same thing.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

Honda, hardly any maintenance. All you need is an oil change, tire change, timing belt change, spark plug change once in a long while except for oil.

Hondas rock  we have a 1997 Honda Accord and it still runs good.. it does need a little work but it will probably last us another 5 years or so...

I have had a string of BMWs for the last 15 years or so. Really, I can honestly say that I have never had a problem with any of them. I have kept most of them the full 4 years too.
