EMail Notification & Online Status

Hi,

Please forgive me for asking something I'm sure has been discussed here before, but...

I put my husband's Receipt number (EADxxxx etc) in the USCIS site in order to track the status of his I751, but it says the number can not be found. It seems to me that other's have had this happen... is their any way to resolve it?

Also, does this same issue prevent me from registering to get an e-mail notification if and when his green card prdouction is ordered?

Please note that he received and NOA upon submission of the I751, then did his biometrics in Feb, than received (what looked like a) repetitive NOA again in March or so. I used the Receipt number from this 2nd NOA. I assume it is the same as the one onthe 1st NOA- I don't have them with me to confirm.

We sent our package to VT late Dec 2007, and other folks who submitted at this time are starting to get approved.

For various reasons, I suspect we will get a RFE... antoher reason why I want to check online- in case I missed someting in the mail.

Thanks, any advice/comments are appreciated.

EAD? Vermont is EAC

Without the system accepting a case number there is no way to register an e-mail address for notifications...

YMMV

I meant EAC.... so there is no way to follow up on why mine doesn't work and someone else's does?

Did you try using the number from his biometrics appointment letter? The NOA case numbers don't work on the USCIS tracking system - I was informed by an immigration officer that they are internal use numbers only. Try inputting the case number from the biometrics - which will be a different number - and that one should work. You can then set up the email notification system tied to that case number as well.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Try this first write out the reciept number on the Notice of action forms usually starts with MSC----------

Then at the uscis site check ur status online with that number. If it still isnt working wait until after biometric appointment, it usually shows up after then because both AOS and Ead would be uploaded in your presence online while at fingerprinting.

I read complaints from other members too but most usually could view after their biometric appointment..

Dont get too trouble yet...ok?

Hi,

as Kathryn41 said, use you biometrics notice number, this is the one that works for i-751 applications. You'll be able to register for email notifications with this. In regards to notifications for RFE, you only get that in the regular mail. In my case, and as a matter of fact in all others that have received RFE for I-751, we have not been notified by email, neither did our online status change nor the last "touched" date. We just receive the letter in the mail. Good luck, you're almost done

Hi,

Thanks for everyone's help.. though I am now more perplexed than ever...

I called USCIS and after selecting upteen options I finally spoke to an individual, and explained that I misplaced all the NOA's, but was calling with the Alien number in hopes of obtaining a RECEIPT number that I could register with online, to see the status of the I751 and receive email updates.

She was ADAMANT that I175 status was not online, that there was no public access, and that what I wanted to do was impossible.

I told her, OK, maybe I'm phrasing it all wrong, but suffice to say that some folks do SOMETHING online which enables them to receive an Email update which at a minimum advises them when the 10-year card production is ordered.

She finally OK look, here's your receipt number... do whatever you want with it....

SO, I go back in, register for email update, but when I try to add our case with the receipt number, it says "ERROR, attempting to add a case number that does not exist".

Back to square one... I can only wonder if the EAC receipt number isn't what the system wants, but rather a "case number" starting with "MSCxxxxx", as Beautifyl Years suggested above....

Has anyone else had to use a "MSCxxx etc" number instead of the EACxxxx Vermont number?

Thanks again, Jema

You need the receipt number from the biometrics letter. She was correct about the I-751 not being accessable online. However, the I-751 is also known as CRI89. That receipt number is accessable online and is the receipt number on your biometrics letter. If you do not have the biometrics letter, call and ask for the CRI89 receipt number.

SNOWXTC THANK YOU!

That was correct and I was able to call USCIS and get the CR189 receipt Number, which worked in the system and showed the status as pending.

The weirdest thing is that right before she hung up, she said "OK, very soon we will be sending you his Green Card.. have a nice day!"

Kinda got my hopes up that I would see a "Card Production Ordered" status, but whatever... at least she didn't say "Did you get the RFE yet? hahaha

Thanks ALL, Jema

Hi again,

Hi have been dutifully checking my online case status at the USCIS site, and see the message regarding the receipt of the case and that it is PENDING.

Is this the same window/inquiry where I would see if I was "touched" even if it is still pending, or is that a different one?

If the "last updated" date changes that means you were "touched" :star:

Usually the actual text in the status wont change until you get approval (or an RFE i guess)

Just to give you an idea, the only touch i got was the day after biometrics, then nothing for 3 months until approval

Goodluck!

Meh..I can't access my number online either. It's the receipt number USCIS gave me on the phone but her explanation for it was that the case status might not have been updated. So, it is pending (as USCIS told me by phone) but I can't see it...meh. I wish they'd order me a card already..or update me..or something...anything!
