Hi,

Wanted to let you know that I called about my wife's I129f to ask about it being out of the processing time frame (her I129f was received on April 9, 2008 at the Vermont Service Center) My first call did not produce any results and I was told by two different people that according to their screen/system it was within the normal processing time frame for the Vermont Service Center. After this I decided to try again and what do you know....the customer rep's screen showed 6 months (just as it is on the USCIS website) and she sent in a request to review it.

I'm not sure if it will make things go any faster but it made me feel a little better to at least get a result.

You have discovered why it is called the "Mis-information line" . . . the people who answer the phones are not immigration staff -they are call center staff earning low wages who have a basic script in front of them and some dubious levels of training on basic immigration matters. You can ask to have a call escalated to an immigration officer, although they only tend to do that if they feel stumped by what you are requesting. There are some highly creative answers that have been given by the misinformation line, including some that are potentially dangerous for the caller. Hopefully, your second call got someone a little more knowledgeable and willing to do some actual work rather than just blow you off like the first one did. If you case goes seriously outside of the processing times, contact your Senator's office and have his staff investigate for you. Sometimes that is effective. Good luck.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Them reps think that you call them to ask for their views/opinions rather than factual informtion based on your case. It's not unusual for them to give you multiple different answers.

In any case, I am glad that your persistant attempts paid off. I, at least, hope it's the right direction. Good luck!
