I think I hear a welfare person crying about lazy people..

i think i hear an idiot crying about something they don't know about. imagine that ;)

i wonder what insightful comment she will have to my reply.

Evidently giving free checks to Alaskans for doing nothing isn't "spreading the wealth".

And Palin's supporting it must inherently mean it's not spreading the wealth, either.

Strange how people just love to say a bunch of #######, but look foolish when they do. This is why so many cooked-### politicians get into office.

Rebating Alaskan oil royalty payments to the citizens of Alaska is a far cry from the government seizing the assets of upper income taxpayers and distribiting the seized assets to individuals that pay no income tax at all. If you cannot see the difference then it is debatable about who really is foolish.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

He's talking about rolling back taxes to the level that it was before and you have him seizing assets. :whistle:

Don't bother showing me the 401K post because I've seen it already. It's not going to happen.

So, my sweetie and I had a pretty interesting discussion last night. She was going on and on about how she doesn't understand why people in this country voted for BHO, or why they support socialism or the "share the wealth" concept. She spoke at length about having "been there, done that" and how crappy that system is and so on and so on (and she was talking purely about economic and property issues, not political or human rights issues). She is very worried about the U.S. economy, even more so now that we have BHO. So, she says that if things get too bad here and the government wants to take what little wealth we have, she doesn't mind if we move back to Russia.

I just thought it was funny that a foreigner from a communist country gets it - while many of those who were born and raised here do not (:

Hmmmm, wives, mine is concerned that Chavez will take away her properties in Venezuela that she work hard to pay for. He's not taking money away from the wealthy and giving it to the poor, he wants to take money away from those that worked their cans off and give it to lazy b@stards, that is socialism. Try and comfort her, we are together and have plenty here. But do make a point to put money into a special account immediately for property taxes before we spend it on anything else, this stupid place will take your home away if you can't pay your taxes. And how that money is used, does tend to really tee me off.

for example with healthcare.
well, if the government takes all our money, we will not have any.

why do u make the smilies the other way?? (: instead of :)
It's just a more natural way to do it. Hold the shift key down with the left hand - then the right hand finds the ( then the : then the <return> key as it sweeps from left to right. If you make it the other way, the right hand has to switch direction mid-flight.

For one thing the way you are making it it is not a smile it is a frown. Note: :)= smile (: = frown

Isn't that strange - I had the very same conversation with Tanya months ago in the event that McCain had won, only I am the one who suggested the move. I guess we are at odds over who we think is going to spend all of our money. I went with history and you go on speculation. My guess would be that her take on the future of having Obama as our president has a lot to do with your input on the subject.

I am not worried about the government taking my "wealth"; I am worried about being bled dry at the pumps, by insurance, and increased utility prices. I am worried about how we are going to pay for the expenditures of the past few years by our current administration and the idea that the debt can be paid off by cutting taxes. Hocus Pocus business model if you ask me (reminds me of Voodoo Economics). Spending will have to be cut or taxes raised to recover what was lost, maybe both. That is reality. For me it was all about continuing down the same road or taking a stand and changing business as usual. With that in mind, I cast my vote. Blame me in 4 years if you still feel the need but I am waiting awhile before I admit making a mistake or not.

What I find most amazing are the folks who still proudly display their George II stickers on their cars. Those are the ones who just have no contact with reality. Even Gary finally admitted to being duped by W and his gang. While I admire him for the admission, it should have come years ago when things really started getting wonky. It was the Gary's who shouted from the mountain tops about Kerry's "flip-flopping" yet refuse to recognize or admit to the shenanigan’s of Bush's administration or that McCain ardently fought against Bush in his previous bid for president, then embraced him and his policies, then gave George the cold shoulder once again while trying to distance himself from the failed policies of Bush's tenure all while agreeing with him 90% of the time. #######!

Now, before he has even taken office, there are those who speak of the doom and gloom of Obama's presidency and the economic hardships which are sure to come. Guess what, hard times are already here and whoever won the election was going to have to deal with the mess created by W. I am taking it one step at a time and I am hopeful that Obama will do his best to fix the country rather than continue the race to division among us. I ask that all of you at least give him the chance to try.

p.s. Russia is no longer communist.

Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensedregistered pharmacist". (because somebody gives a damn)

Ah yes - Socialism... The Great Satan of American politics :rolleyes:

If you listen to some of the talk radio guys - they're already screaming that the sky is falling and how BHO is comparable to Adolf Hitler. Seriously - could people be any less hysterical...?

Its not like it was in 2004, when we had a fairly clear idea of what 4 more years of GWB would mean...

In any case - isn't the election result really the fault of the GOP at the end of the day? They should have put up a more credible opposition candidate. That and the new political landscape puts them in wilderness somewhat as more people are becoming politically active (I heard that the nationwide turnout at the polls may be as high as 60%).

It would seem to me that the demographics have shifted somewhat and the GOP will have to find new ways of appealing to a broader spectrum of the US population. Joe the Plumber just didn't cut it.

Interesting, and what is the goverment doing when lower/middle income taxpayers make their tax payments? Making a donation?

The dishonesty and downright ignorance of what taxes are is astonishing.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Wait everyone wait!!!

AKdiver has a sweetie! :D

And she loves him and him her. :dance:

This is news. :P

(After all the negativity he spews, I just thought he had no feelings.) ;)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have been to Alaska a few times....love it there.
The people are so genuine. Community oriented.
(What happened AKdiver?? hahaha!)
Have many friends there.
They are grateful and know how privileged they are to receive that gift at the end of each year.
This has been going on for a looooong time....way before Palin.
Only the very high income earners will be taxed more, right?
Over 250,000/yr. earners.
Take it easy people.
I just wish corporations were taxed more.
Too many dollars kept in too many offshore accounts and other loopholes.
Stuff we regular folks cannot and do not do.
As it is, there is no law requiring people pay income tax on their wages.
See for yourself.
Ask the IRS...and be careful you don't end up in the clink for being so bold.
Ha!
Actually, I never said a word about either candidate. She reads the news constantly. She figured it out all by herself.
I am not worried about the government taking my "wealth"; I am worried about being bled dry at the pumps
Not me. The amount of money I spent on gas is completely within my control. As the price goes up, I buy less gas.
, and increased utility prices
I haven't seen any huge increase in my insurance prices. As for utilities, This one kind of bothers me - but I can cut back on spending on other things to pay for it....unless the government takes all my money.
I am worried about how we are going to pay for the expenditures of the past few years by our current administration and the idea that the debt can be paid off by cutting taxes. Hocus Pocus business model if you ask me (reminds me of Voodoo Economics).
Government disallows taking money from new investors to pay off old ones, it's called a Ponzai scheme. But when the government does it, it's called Social Security.
Spending will have to be cut or taxes raised to recover what was lost, maybe both.
I am ALL FOR cutting spending. Start with eliminating entire divisions of government. Department of Education would be a good start. Also, get rid or 4 or 5 government agencies associated with law enforcement? How many do we ###### need??
That is reality. For me it was all about continuing down the same road or taking a stand and changing business as usual. With that in mind, I cast my vote. Blame me in 4 years if you still feel the need but I am waiting awhile before I admit making a mistake or not.
You make it sound like an"either/or" decision.
What I find most amazing are the folks who still proudly display their George II stickers on their cars. Those are the ones who just have no contact with reality.
Not sure what that has to do with anything, but OK. I'm not a GWB fan any more than I'm an BHO or McCain fan.
Gary who?
So what? I was speaking of the doom and gloom of a McCain presidency too.
Um, yes, I know.
uh? whoever said it was going to cost that much? i said that i probably won't be able to afford the insurance for the treatment and may have to face coming back home, where it is free?
thanks for your support.
Because if it doesn't cost that much that even the NHS will pay for it, what makes you think your health insurance provider in the US won't pay for it?
because as i just said, i won't be able to afford the insurance in the first place. i can pay for the start of it myself but if it doesn't improve i cannot pay for what is required further down the line. i don't want this thread to turn into a depressing discussion. lets just leave it at that eh. :)
Well, if you don't have the insurance in the first place...
Can you just use the NHS if you're not longer a UK resident? Pop back in the country for a checkup and such :wacko:
OP...have buckets of fun in Russia :)
Technically no - you get free emergency care if you have an accident or something, but supposedly anything more than that is only open to people who are "ordinarily resident" in the UK. Though I've no idea how they enforce that, or even if they do.
