So, my sweetie and I had a pretty interesting discussion last night. She was going on and on about how she doesn't understand why people in this country voted for BHO, or why they support socialism or the "share the wealth" concept. She spoke at length about having "been there, done that" and how crappy that system is and so on and so on (and she was talking purely about economic and property issues, not political or human rights issues). She is very worried about the U.S. economy, even more so now that we have BHO. So, she says that if things get too bad here and the government wants to take what little wealth we have, she doesn't mind if we move back to Russia.

I just thought it was funny that a foreigner from a communist country gets it - while many of those who were born and raised here do not (:

Actually, being from a former commie country myself, I'd tell you that your sweetie ain't getting it. Not even close.

It is inhumane if you have an illness and cannot afford medication or treatment.
Inhumane is forcing others to provide for your needs.

oh waaa, God forbid you ever need help and someone spits in YOUR face.

You know back in the day, ppl helped ppl, either finacially or mentally or whatever, today ppl are too self involved and spoiled to even think twice of helping ppl. It wouldnt be just the middle class family thats getting the help, EVERYONE would have the health care.

I work directly with our state medicaid here in Kentucky and I can say that there are ALOT of people getting daily services in there home (including housekeeping) and get supplies such as depends sent to their home with little to no cost to them. While there are others that have worked all their lives and have a little bit of money saved and they ARE eligible to receive those services, but cannot get them because they make too much. The bottomline is their are "programs ect" that are available to people, but their are millions of people who get stuck in the middle. They cant afford the care, but make too much for any assistance.

These people usually end up in nursing homes, while the others get their houses cleaned, supplies sent to their door, help with baths ect. These are the same people who send the aide to the store for chocolates and cigs, and sometimes liquor.

If the state cracked down on these programs, we would have enough medicaid funds to help those who actually need it.

Its late, but my point is that.. the money is there, but too many people fall in the cracks and end up with nothing.

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

And thats whats so sad. I agree, the money is there, if handed out properly, everyone who needed the service could get it

I'm all for helping people. I help people all the time - sometimes, at great inconvenience to myself.

What I am against is forcing people to help others.

You are more than welcome to spit in my face. Be my guest.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

Why would i spit in your face? You didnt ask me for help. :P

All im saying is, no one is being FORCED to help anyone, we will become the nation everyone claimed to be all this time, a nation that looks out for eachother and helps eachother. If you think thats forcing ppl to take care of eachother, than theres nothing wrong with the rest of us.

Alrighty then.

Ultimately, what is being argued here is my right to my money versus your right to my money. That's the bottom line.

hmmm, dont need your money, but if we get the healthcare plan, then your argument or case becomes nada anyway.

IMO there is nothing wrong with everyone helping to insure everyone equally.

I think we should make sure everyone gets to drive the same car and live in the same house too.

Im sure you realize the difference in HEALTHcare and what type of car you drive right?

Just a thought to put it in perspective:

Lets say that you ARE taxed to supply people who would otherwise be uninsured... what direct impct will it have on you? Have you done any number crunching? What will you have to give up to help your fellow WORKING americans?

Its all about the "principle" isnt it?

How dare you have to give something up so someone else you dont know can take their kid to a doctor for quality healthcare. right?

Can I just say something....As a Brit we 'boast' about our 'free' healthcare. To be honest...what's free about it? If you have a serious healthcare issue, ie. cancer... you have to wait 3 months for a scan, and then if you are diagnosed with cancer then you have to wait another 6 weeks (at least) to see a specialist. By the time you recieve treatment you are terminal!!! This is due to serious strains on our resources...mainly, in my opinion, due to Immigration issues of our own which is a strain on our economy.

The point is, we don't have a choice in this type of healthcare. (Dental treatment is also now mainly 'private' in the UK).

The NHS payments are taken from our salaries whether we like it or not. If I had a choice I would choose to select & choose my own healthcare!

If some one is really sick in the US then they will be treated (same as UK) whether they are legal or not! Why should we pay for this?

So my point is... free or subsidised healthcare isn't the best option.

The difference is, right now, I can afford both. If the democrats have their way, I will not be able to afford either.

What will you have to give up to help your fellow WORKING americans?
Again, it's not about being willing to give - it's about being forced to give.

Its all about the "principle" isnt it?
One can claim principle when one donates money to help others. One cannot claim principle when one extracts money from some to give it to others.

How dare you have to give something up so someone else you dont know can take their kid to a doctor for quality healthcare.
Exactly. If they couldn't afford their kid, they shouldn't have had it. Edited by akdiver

Will you be able to afford those things if you lose your free oil check?
