I got three emails today from NVC- our case is complete. I'm so happy ! Can anyone tell me what happens now?

Will I get more email correspondence from NVC or will it come in the mail? I'm not really sure of the process now- only that we need the medical and interview.... once we get an interview date we can than schedule the medical??? Is the necessary medical paperwork received from the doctor's office or will we receive paperwork to take to him? Someone please enlighten me.... I've spent so much time researching everything else up to this point. Thanks so much !

Congrats on almost being done. Such a good feeling.

Depending on your doctor, you may not need to bring the interview letter to the medical. Some doctors want a copy of it, others just want your NVC case number.

I guess scheduling your medical depends on where you live and whether its quick and easy for you to get to the doctor. If you have to travel to another province you may want to try to schedule it as closely to your interview as possible. That means waiting until you have your interview letter stating when your interview is.

The next thing you should expect is a letter from NVC indicating your interview date, with a checklist outlining everything that they have received (passport photos, DS-230, police certificate, etc). This will come through the mail. Some people call NVC once a week to see if their interview date has been assigned. That way they're sure they didn't miss an important piece of mail. A girl on here a couple of months ago, never got her interview letter and it showed up 2 days or something after the interview was supposed to have happened. Sick feeling - I am sure. So people call NVC, just to avoid this.

Other than the interview letter, $$$, vaccinations record (if you have one) and passport photos you don't need to bring anything to the medical. I am sure that the doctor's office will tell you everything that you need.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer me. We truly appreciate it and are grateful. :) I honestly don't know how we would have made it this far without all of the help we have received on VJ. I am forever indebted to everyone who has helped us....

Congrats! I am curious, how were you able to get notified by e-mail? I haven't heard this before.

Sly

I'm not really sure- but I'm guessing because everytime I sent something to NVC I included a cover letter stating what I was sending etc. Pretty much looked like a business type letter to them and I always included my email address with my other contact information at the top.

Hmmm. A good tip since I have never seen anyone else mention that. The only way we are able to get info on our case is by talking to a NVC operator.

This was also in my emails from NVC---- might be another useful piece of info....

To ensure a prompt reply on future inquiries, please include only one case per e-mail with the case number in the subject line.

Good info to post on the VJ guides and Wiki section. Wish I would have know that before. ;)

Sly

Congratulations!!

So you didn't email them to see what the status of your case was, it was just an auto-generated email? Interesting!

I know when I was calling them, last year, everytime I would call they would confirm my email address - which got really old really fast

I assumed at the time that they must be going to set up some kind of email notification system, wonder if they have done.

Seems a bit archaic to be getting everyones email manually, via phone or correspondence, though.

Except it sounds like they automatically picked off the cover letter.
