Jindal, the Louisiana governor widely seen as a Republican rising star, will keynote a high-profile Christian conservative fundraising dinner next month in Iowa, his office confirms.

Jindal will speak at the Iowa Family Policy Center's “Celebrating the Family” banquet in suburban Des Moines on November 22nd, according to his spokeswoman, Melissa Sellers. While in the state, he also may to go to Cedar Rapids to see some of those areas impacted by the summer floods. Jindal, of course, has led his state's recovery from Katrina since being elected in 2007.

It will be Jindal's first visit to Iowa, Sellers said.

The trip is a reminder that, even with a presidential election looming, caucus politics is never far away in the Hawkeye State.

The Christian Coalition and Moral Majority have seen their day.

No, they'll adapt and come back. The voters are still out there.

I disagree. What they succeeded at doing no longer works, IMO. They brought voters together on single issues and voters are less likely to vote over single issues. Maybe when the economy is good, and we are at a relative time of peace and prosperity, but right now, they've got a lot more to worry about.

The economy will improve. It won't be like this in 2012.

If the economy is good 4 years from now, Obama will be shoe-in for a second term. Secondly, he has successfully reached out to evangelicals.

They will adapt eventually. Its direction will depend on who emerges as the leader out of this election loss. Will it stay very conservative and remain a minority party? Will it move to the center to grow its base? In doing so, how will it handle its very conservative base?

Don't be so sure. In a good economic year, the focus can be changed to issues the Democratic party is decidedly 'fringe' on (gay rights, affirmative action, opposition to vouchers, etc.).
