I am so depressed. I haven't seen my wife in 4 months. My I130 was received on Sept. 2/08 by the Vermont center and since then I haven't heard anything and my status is unchanged. I am a US citizen and my wife is Taiwanese. I checked the status online and found that for Vermont they are still just processing up until February 26, 2008. I can't believe this. How can they be so far behind?!?!?! How long can I expect to wait for this to be processed? I don't know what to do, I cant take being apart forever.

First of all, it won't be forever. You need to be strong for your wife.

Your looking at 8-10 months right now, or so I've been told.

We submitted our K3/CR1 paperwork to VSC on Jan 28th. The receipt dates are Feb 16th and 28th.

Both cases were approved by USCIS on Aug 11th, and our interview was on Oct 29th. That should give you some indication of the time you'll have to wait.

Processing date has to do with THE OLDEST cases being handled at the Center.

You may want to look at VJ timelines to get an idea of actual processing.

Yes, do give up hope yet. I was a June filer and was just approved a little over a month ago. That means you probably still have a bit to go. Don't pay attention to the processing times because they are inaccurate. You only need to pay attention to those if you are outside of those limits. The VJ timelines are the best although they are not that accurate either. Hang in there and stay strong. You still have a bit to go.

The online status updates are changed once a month, and they usually show exactly (6) month processing times. They are both inaccurate and deceptive. Your best bet is to follow the approval dates as they move closer to your filing date (here on VJ) and that will give you some indication of how long your case will take.

You will likely see no change in your status or dates online until your file is picked up and being processed. Usually about a week before your approval your "last updated" date will change, possibly several times, then your approval notice will come.

I remember those days. It took just under (6) months for our I130 to be processed. Good luck..

i don't get it.

ive applied through a lawyer in Aug and he has assured it wont be more than 4-6 for USCIS processing thats the average time. He also filed for a family members of ours and they were approved in 2 months. it depends on the documentation and the form correctly being filled. dont lose hope im sure you will get a approval real soon!!!

I don't see how a lawyer can possibly give you numbers like that.

Hope for 6 months at USCIS. Expect 10. And you'll never be disappointed.

NVC is much better. You can be in and out of there is 4-6 weeks.
