Basically, the dog looked like a cent-percent Alsatian (in Americanese/Canadianese "German Shepherd") though it didn't have the temperament (generally very gentle, especially to one who would scratch him--though of course, he would oft demand to be scratched and direct the scratcher to the right area) or intelligence (on this score, one would suspect it got the 1/8--specifically the brain--from a boxer) typically associated.
