BBC SHUNNED ME FOR DENYING CLIMATE CHANGE

Yeah the Daily Outrage is the place where you can find all kinds of knee-jerk thread starters.

Firstly - Bellamy isn't a research scientist, certainly not in the area of climatology and meteorology.

Secondly - the decline in his career had a lot to do with his political activities in the late 90s, in much the same was as Martin Bell - who had to resign his position at the BBC when he ran for political office because it created a conflict of interest.

Thirdly - aside from one 2007 paper he co-authored none of the claims Bellamy has presented in public position on this subject are based on any tangible research (either conducted by him or from the work of other scientists. As such - his views on climate change must be viewed as a personal opinion.

exactly, the daily express.

luckystrike, nice attempt but try reading a real newspaper and get back to us on that one.

if you visit their website you will notice that "news" and "showbiz" are the same link. i don't think i need to say anything else but lets see what wikipedia has to say anyway.

"The Daily Express is a conservative, middle-market British tabloid newspaper."

In fairness the Daily Express isn't as bad as the Daily Mail, but those papers do publish similar stories.

In any case - its not as though Bellamy can substantiate his claim that his TV career was killed off by his views on Climate Change.

In contrast - when Robert Kilroy-Silk got sacked from the BBC for that kerfuffle over his newspaper column (I think it was the Daily Express he used to write for... they reprinted an old column of his that made disparaging remarks about muslims at a particularly sensitive time) those events were directly linked.

All we have here is Bellamy's *feeling* that he has been discriminated against.

Tony Hart, yeah! I think that's the only show ever made that catered for deaf people as part of the programming. Pretty cool.

What about that dude who became born again and was kicked off tv? Sports commentator? What was his name?

And my childhood hero John Noakes hasn't been seen for a while :)

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

There's Rolf Harris too - but I think he's still around. Last I remember - he was doing Animal Hospital. Used to love his saturday evening cartoon/art show - that was great.

And its pretty interesting that Bob Ross (US version of Tony Hart) is enjoying postumous popularity on the internet because of his crazy hairstyle.

BTW - do you remember when Trevor MacDonald had a verbal slip-up on live TV when he was saying "Kent Countryside"?

I think the worst (unintentional) BBC gaffe I ever saw was just after the Dunblane Massacre and in the middle of the evening news report the soundtrack trailer for Dale Winton's "Pets Win Prizes" came on.

indeed. we all know that the bbc is "supposed" to be unbiased and that is probably the reason why they didn't want him to do a show for them. it's pretty simple really, don't be an extremist and there won't be a problem.

i cannot take any tabloid newspaper story seriously. they are all about pushing their own agenda and not about reporting actual real news. it's like watching fox news to learn about the news, stupid and pointless. i tried finding this story from a reputable source and surprise surprise it didn't exist. ;)

somehow you keep coming up with ex-bbc people, there's so many! i remember all of these situations very clearly, further evidence that you must behave yourself to be on the bbc.

Wasn't Jeremy Clarkson in some kind of pickle with the BBC for saying something about truck drivers killing prostitutes?

Clarkson is a bit nuts (on his talk show a few years ago - he deliberately exploded a microwave oven on set for no reason) - though he wasn't quite as irritating as Chris Evans used to be on C4. Evans' idea of fun seemed to involved him walking around the studio set with a cordless drill and boring holes in random objects.

He drove a rolls into a swimming pool as well didn't he?

A posh kind of car anyway...

I saw an accident reconstruction on that old show '999' where that happened.

Always found it difficult not to laugh at those - they were so dodgily done.

David Icke! Insisted on only wearing purple shell-suits.

I preferred the Oliver Reed, George Best and Brigitte Nielsen interviews.

Has Terry stopped wearing that toupe?

Does he still do Eurovision.
