What to expect?

Hi! I was wondering what to expect next.

I mailed my choice of agent form to the address in New Hampshire. In the meantime, my husband has yet to mail his AOS fee.

How come some people's timelines say that like, 4 days after their file is transfered to NVC, the NVC sent it to the consulate? Doesn't the file have to hang around NVC until they received back the choice of agent form and the fee and everything? And THEN it gets sent to the consulate???

Also, when can I expect to have to go do my medical exam and fingerprints?

Applying for a IR-1 or CR-1 visa from Canada (Montreal Cons.) through the sponsorship of my FABulous husband.

The 4 day people are K-1 or K-3 filers. They are processed different since they have to adjust status in the US to get a green card, while you will get one on entering the US. CR/IR-1's go to NVC for a bit longer since you have to send them everything before it goes to the consulate.

Hi ratfin,

You only need the fingerprint version of your police check if you have a criminal record. If you do not, then you just need a Canada Wide Name Check. Regardless of which one you actually need - you should get that now, you will have to submit it to the NVC with your form DS-230.

When you get your interview letter it will tell you to go and have your medical.

Good luck for a speedy visa process.
