More.

*She doesn't know her civics, government structures, federal and state responsibilities.

*She thought South Africa was part of a country called 'Africa'.

*She threw tantrums, threw stuff around.

*She's a shopaholic, bought unnecessary clothes.

She's a mirror image of some of her fans. And there's a few obvious ones here.

I wonder how many people in the US know that Algeria is an African country? Not to mention Tunisia :) Or that it's only an hour boat ride from Spain to Morocco?

Probably not many, but they aren't aspiring to be vice president now, are they?

I was watching BBC America on election night and I was a little surprised that Jeremy Vine didn't make any goofs selecting the different states on the video-wall.

I know where the big States are - but I still can't pick out all of the states on a blank map.

Transcript from Daily Kos:

Smith: Now that the election is over, Carl, tell us more about those reports of infighting between Palin and McCain staffers.

Cameron: I wish I could have told you more at the time but all of it was put off the record until after the election. There was great concern in the McCain campaign that Sarah Palin lack the degree of knowledgeability necessary to be a running mate, a vice president, and a heartbeat away from the presidency. We’re told by folks that she didn’t know what countries that were in NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement, that being the Canada, the US, and Mexico. We’re told she didn’t understand that Africa was a continent rather than a country just in itself ... a whole host of questions that caused serious problems about her knowledgeability. She got very angry at staff, thought that she was mishandled.....was particularly angry about the way the Katie Couric interview went. She didn’t accept preparation for that interview when the aides say that that was part of the problem. And that there were times that she was hard to control emotionally there's talk of temper tantrums at bad news clippings......

Has anyone seen actually Palin quotes about Africa, NAFTA, etc? Or just what someone claims she understood (I haven't got the time to search right now)? What about Obama's referrence to 57 states?

I wonder how many people in the US know that Algeria is an African country? Not to mention Tunisia :) Or that it's only an hour boat ride from Spain to Morocco?

I think VJ people aren't your "typical" American since a lot of us are probably quite well travelled. eta: To answer your question...not many people that I've encountered know that stuff

I knew those things long before I travelled anywhere...

So, what percentage of Obama's clothing (or Biden's, or Hillary's, etc. etc.etc.) is "necessary"?

And in case anyone wants to know, no, I didn't vote for any of the front-running candidates, I just find many of the attacks to be ridiculous.

Well they were ridiculous. That said I do think Palin showed her true colors when she did that Catie Couric interview. That honestly was one of the worst interview performances of a political candidate that I've ever seen in my life (including GWB). Pretty much everyone makes the odd verbal gaffe - but when you do it consistently and to a point where it casts a serious reflection on your own level of knowledge, its pretty obvious what's going to happen... And indeed it has - pretty much anything is being pulled out of the bag to point the finger at Palin and lay the blame for the election loss on her being "dumb" and difficult to manage.

As usual those who are really to blame get off scott free.

How much money does a "normal" person spend on clothes per year?

I doubt I spend more than $500 and that might be high.

That includes shoes and the occasional eye liner: my entire realm of make-up.

I could live for a ten years on $150,000+.
