Hello I am here in the Philippines with my wife until 12/10/2008 and needing letter from NVC about interview etc. What is the best thing for us to do about having her medical finished before her interview? If no letter received due to poor mail service here what can we do? What can we take in place of the letter for the medical? I understand you need the letter to enter to get the medical? Thanks for any help you can offer!

We called the embassy about a week after finding out NVC had sent the package to the USEM and was told to call back a couple of weeks later. Based on what another VJer's experience, we called the following week and the person told us that we were eligible to schedule the interview. We scheduled the interview and received a confirmation email which is apparently equivalent (for SLMEC) to receiving the snail-mail letter from the embassy. You can use a hardcopy of that email for the medical.

I actually just checked my email this morning and got the email stating she has interview the 12th of December and that a letter will come telling the details. I have read others here received their letter one month or more after it was sent by the NVC? My concern is if the letter gets lost in the mail between USA and Philippines what should we do about her medical? I am here in the Philippines until December 10th and I am sure I probably have my copy of the letter at the post office now but will she get hers in time for medical before interview time.

you can call the embassy hotline and request an email regarding your case. The email printout will be accepted in lieu of the appointment letter at St. Luke's.

Good luck. :)

I wasn't able to read the last post. But the email will suffice for the medical.

Again good luck. :)

Also if you can have the copy of the letter faxed or scanned and emailed to you, it would be best. Given that we're approaching the holiday season, expect mail here to be delayed considerably.

yeah maybe they mailed one on your mail box now? does pne of your family have as access on your mail box? so that they can sent u a fax letter of it, well that EMAIL u just received is enough, dont worry to much. u can have your medical with that mail, and when ur reach ur interview date, surely u will have the lette from USEM. good luck again.

Thanks and another question regarding your reply?? What is the embassy hotline? Do you have the number? Other replies are saying use the NOA2 but I dont have that with me here in the Philippines. Again I am here with my wife until December 10th and wanting to have her medical on about the 25th of November and may have the letter by then hopefully but wanting to be prepared just in case. Thanks again for all the replies.

From the USEM Manila website

Starting March 19, 2008, those applying for K-1, K-2, K-3 and K-4 visas who have been notified by the Embassy to prepare for their interview can call 1-909-101-7878 (within the Philippines) to schedule an interview appointment at the U.S. Embassy. The cost of the 909 service is U.S. $0.98 per minute; this amount will be charged to your telephone bill.

Do note that you have to use a PLDT landline but I believe a Smart cellphone would be ok.

Also, you may want to try this option.

USEM Visa Immigration Unit: +63(2) 301-2000 locs. 5184/5185. Look for Grace or Lorraine.

This is a toll-free line and reserved for US citizens.

In any case, you must have your case number ready.
