Question: do these affidavits necessarily have to come from US citizens/permanent residents? So foreign friends are out of the picture? And do they necessarily need to be notarized?

Timeline:

Sent in I-130 form: 01/29/09

Interview Date: 11/08/09 (APPROVED!)

Visa in Hand: 11/12/09

POE: 01/30/10 (!!!!) at JFK Airport in NYC... can't wait!

Got the green card maybe 8 weeks after 01/30/10...

TBC....

it is better if it is done in the place where you got married or from the friends who did see you get married.

yes, notarized is notice to public... if the statement are found untruthful, the person may be sent to jail for perjury.

.....thanks but that doesn't answer my question. i got married outside the US. would my friends who were my witnesses be able to write affidavits stating that our marriage was the real deal and that these would be accepted by NVC? that's essentially my question...thanks.

yes some people do that but not really necessary, strong points for an evidence of a bonafide relationship your marriage contract, joint ownership of any property or accounts, evidences that both of you are continually communicating with each other, remmittances, ah yeah photos big points for photos of you together with other people on different occassions

well, we don't have a joint bank account or property...it's a bit difficult to do that here. and there are not really many foreign banks...so this is not a possibility. we do have a crapload of photos and taking a lot more in the upcoming few days...we have letters written to one another, and i'm trying to get some phone records from t-mobile (a bunch of morons, by the way, never using them again), as well as 5-6 affidavits from people...hope that will be enough...i was stupid to not save any chats...and 35 pages of emails...

not good enough? :(

The US citizen can open a ITF [in trust For] savings account in a bank in the US. No need SSN or the aliens signature. You get a ATM card which makes it easy to transfer money. GREAT for evidence of a bonafide marriage also.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

Dear, T-mobile wouldn't let me get a copy of my records as well. The only records I could get were from their web-site. When you log in into your account on-line, you should be able to get a statement of your bill for each month with all the phone calls. And then you just print the invoice. That's possible only for the last 9-12 months. But my husband is using Sprint and they did send him copies of only phone calls between me and him for the last 1,5 years. So, if your husband could get a copy of his phone records from his telephone/cell provider, that's another option. Good luck, hun :)
