Hello, I just found this forum for the November 2008 AOS filers. I sent my husbands AOS packet on Nov 15th, 2008, he had his Biometrics appointment on Jan 27th, 2009, and we are anxiously waiting for his EAD to arrive (we sent it in at the same time). I am very worried because I see everyone else, including those that sent in the AOS paperwork much later than us, have received interview dates, EAD approval, etc. I consistently check on the "case status" for both the EAD and the AOS, and there has never been any update since his Biometrics appointment. Is anyone having a similar problem/delay? I'm not quite sure what to think......

(I am not quite sure how to post.... I assume it will automatically attach my timeline...)

I am still waiting also.

Hello all, I just got back from our interview and everything went smoothly. The lady was very nice and friendly. We came there 45 minutes prior to our appointment. Our interview was scheduled at 2:00 pm however, we were called at 1:45 pm and the interview took about 20-30 minutes. The lady told us that she can't give an approval this time because my wife's income for 2007 was below the poverty line. We told her that we brought an original tax return for 2008 reasoned for not filing it early because I don't have my SSN yet. She told us that we had two options to choose from: to seek for co-sponsor or file our income tax return together and send it to her and she will approve my green card. She set a deadline for us to reply until May 6, 2009. She also told us about how to remove the condition of my green card once I received it. She didn't even bother to see our photos..just only the documents to show that we live together.

type of questions she asked:

for my wife:

her fullname, date of birth, address, place where she was born, date of our marriage.....and her contact number during day time

for me:

my fullname, date of birth, address, place where I was born, date of our marriage, date I came to USA, and other questions in my I-485 applications ( inspected, yes or no).....and my contact number during day time.

She asked us how we met... and also what we like in common as husband and wife.

I also asked her if I can hand in our tax return in person and she was Ok with it.

So far everything went so smoothly....the lady was very nice!!!!

good luck to everyone!

I would like to say good luck to you abranch...don't worry very easy!!!!

Anyways, I just received my EAD card in the mail this afternoon without a 2nd and 3rd notification emails from USCIS. I went to SSA office this afternoon but it was closed already! I'm going back there tomorrow morning to apply for SSN so that we can file our tax return soon!!!

Abranch, the lady asked me if we have a lease but I told her that we got a letter from our leasing consultant that we live together since they took over the apartment and it was ok!

My husband just checked the mailbox and we have mail from the USCIS.

Our interview notice has arrived. Its on March 29th at 1pm.

Its got a long list of things that we need to take, most of which that I knew we needed, but I never started collecting....

A painful month is ahead for us with getting all of this together......

Congratulations! Hope you have a great interview :star:

Thanks Phoenix!! I hope it goes as smooth and nice as yours..... By the way, was there any document on the list that you did not take?

I'm asking because my husband is the US Citien and they have asked for his birth certificate which he doesn't have. He says when he applied for his passport, they tool his birth certificate and never gave it back. Now all he has is his passport to prove he is a US Citizen....

We're placing an order for a duplicate today, but it might not arrive in time...

Hi Petersons,

well, my husband did have his U.S. Citizen's Birth Certificate with him (and a copy I made for USCIS) and also his

U.S. passport with him (and a copy of the whole passport)

The lady who interviewed us asked for

'Can i see his proof of U.S. Citizenship?'

I showed her his passport, and I showed her the copy of the whole passport (all pages) and

told her 'Here is your copy, do you need anything else?'

(thinking she would also ask for his Birth Certificate.

But she was content to see his passport, and happy we had made a copy of the whole passport.

She kept the copy and did not bring up the issue again.

I realize all interviews are different, but she did not ask us for further evidence of his U.S. Citizenship.

Have you looked for the subject here? Has anybody had an interview where the officer asked for BOTH U.S. passport and birth certificate?

Congrats on your job as well, I hope it is a good place :) My husband has had a couple of job interviews this week as well. I am hoping he gets something soon, will be a nice change :)

He has left me at home alone tonight to go play with the boys...so all I can think about how exciting this will be after tomorrow. He has been out of status for a long time...it will be nice to have a freedom again (long divorce prolonged the situation). I can't wait to go to Canada soon too!

Sorry, I am just rambling...bored...anxious...excited...happy :dance::dance:

Thank you so much Abranch...anyways, why is it better to go there about 10 am or 2 pm? Goodluck to your husband's job interview!!!

"Have faith in God, Jesus answered. I'll tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself to the sea, and that does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen. it will be done for him. Therefore I'll tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (MARK 11:22-24)

Good luck to you too abranch!

Thank you!!!!

Good luck to you too abranch!

Thank you Jhun. I am glad you got your EAD. Be careful of Tucson SSA offices first thing in the morning. I have found it better to go about 10am or 2pm.

Sorry, I am just rambling...bored...anxious...excited...happy :dance::dance:

Hey abranch.

I am a Dec filer but I was reading your comment and I thought I would say I totally understand. My husband is also out of status and we are anxious to get word of his EAD  We had a RFE which seems likely to have prolonged the process some. Anyone had an RFE and did it add quite a bit to the time?

Good luck with the interview tomorrow. May it go well. Be relaxed.

Last question... for this interview do you have to go with your husband? Is that required for the interview?
