I just started looking and applying for jobs. No luck yet, still waiting for phone calls. Hope my EAD will arrive soon.

what jobs are you applying for??.. i tried online... but you cant start applying until I have a ss number.. cuz if not my application wont go through..

I'm applying for jobs related to research, analytical or environmental testing.

I applied tru careerbuilder.com ...it asked me to attach my resume and cover of letter..that's it. Also, I sent my resume and cover of letter tru fax at the same time.

Ok. So I went. It took about 10 min all in all, in an out. The lady IO checked in the system for my application, told me there is nothing she can see in the system (like an RFE or anything like that). She told me that she sent an e-mail to MSC, in my name, in hopes that maybe they'll hurry up with the processing of the file. Should nothing bounce back from USCIS, she told me to call for a service request.

A big nothing. At least I feel like I have done all that I could.

Sorry to hear they couldn't do anything for you at infopass.

We have almost the same time line and did pretty much the same things.

Hello to all fellow November AOS filers

My husband and I (I am the petitioner) have come across a problem, and I was wondering if others have come across the same problem.

We went to my husband's Bank, to create a joint bank account. But the lady said they could not add me because I don't have a Social Security Number! The lady was very nice, and tried, and asked, but told us she could not. '...Because you are in this 'grey area'...' Meaning, because I don't have a Green Card yet.

I showed her my passport, my I-94, etc.

This is making me a little worried.

She said she would type up a letter on Bank Stationary to explain to USCIS why the Bank could not add me onto the account.

But after reading many many posts here, I think having a joint bank account is important isnt it? The person at the interview will expect it?

Should we go to another Bank?

or will the letter be enough?

what bank are you trying to get an account in?? i was able to get my own account plus be added to my husbands..by just showing my visa and school ID..i have a b1/b2 visa...the only thing the personal banker told me was that i wouldnt be able to apply for any credit cards because of the unavailability of a SSN...

i have accounts at wells fargo..and bank of america..

hope i helped...i believe chase doesnt let you..unless you have two forms of identification from your home country..((my husband used to work there))

by the way..i had an interview today..and i got hired!!!...

im just in a little delay because my SSN hasnt arrived in the mail...i have to go to SSA tomorrow..! and follow up with paper work at my future employer!

the reason of the question is.. im unaware of what kind of jobs you are eligible with the EAD?

i got hired at Citi Group...its a call center for Citi Bank customers...

although it was has nothing to do with my career interest (nursing) i applied there for the benefits they offer..like medical, dental, vision, and discount prescriptions, also employee discounts..and also discounted employee credit cards (big plus+ because most are 0% interest). and free checking and savings accounts..

so while i finish school ill be working here!

and i believe that you are allowed and eligible to work anywhere you want with your EAD...except for those jobs requiring US Citizenship...

im not really sure if i can get a good job without working experience in the US...

my wife works for ATT and id like to get a job there too.. on retail... but you have to go through a lot of background checks.. etc..

no they didnt ask for any WORK experience...but they do ask if like you finished high school...or if you have done any volunteer work..and stuff like that...i thought i was in a dilemma like you without experience! but i wasnt! thank God for that..i prayed til they called my name

try doing volunteer work at schools or long term care facilities..that gives you experience...

the background checks dont really matter at this point! im sure right now we are going through a very detailed background check with USCIS! lol

hey phoenixwine, i came across the same problem. hsbc wouldn't let me have a joint account the first time i went there (no SSN). the second time around we talked to a different lady, and she could help us with a special form for people without a SSN (called W9 or W8 or something like that). we were able to add my name to hubbys account. so try again! or i heard that bank of america often allows people to have an account without SSN.

also, congratulation to everyone with a job! i'm one of the job hunters now... im in the same boat, no job experience in the us, and no college degree (yet, will work on it). so i'll just try grocery stores like stop and shop, oe things like petco (i love animals ), or i could try to find a desk job, office help or something like that.. really hope i'll find something soon.

Hi everyone, I just got an email from CRIS saying my AP was approved today! and my EAD was touched too, no news about my AOS though, of course I don't have my biometrics yet, so they can't do anything about it (I think).. Happy with the news here When my husband gets home next week, we'll go get my bio appointment in advance. Im so excited, this is like an early birthday present for me!
