USCIS Offices and Application Support Centers Will Be Closed December 25 - 26

Due to the Christmas holiday, and to an Executive Order excusing executive branch non-Postal Service employees from duty on Friday, December 26, 2008, all USCIS offices and Application Support Centers will be closed on Thursday, December 25 and Friday, December 26.

Those with appointments for biometrics at an Application Support Center for December 26 will be rescheduled for the next available appointment; those appointments will usually be two to four weeks in the future.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

Due to this, my biometrics appiontment has been moved to january 6, that's why i was wondering why they sent me another biometrics appointment.

correct me if im wrong.. but ive heard that sometimes K-1 applicants never do biometrics and they get approved for green card... so.. if that cheers you up a little

Everyone will undergo biometrics. That will be on their data base forever. Starting June 18, 09, every greencard holders will have biometrics at POE. Fingerprints and photos will be compared on the baseline biometrics. That process will be enforced to prevent entry of terrorists into the US.

Had my fingerprints and photos taken at POE last Oct. So wondering if all entering US with visa have to undergo that too. Me and lady from Thailand entering on K1 was called on a separate line and there, we had fingerprints and photos taken.

Thanks!

Amy

Yes sir.

Even people who had their finger prints take at their POE are required to undergo the Biometrics.

Simple quick process but yes seems silly as you have already done it.

On a side note I feel like Michael Jackson - I've been touched more in the last 2 weeks then..............HA!

 My husband did the full on fingerprinting on the electronic finger-print taker for his K1 interview (I wanted to play with the machine!), but he has another biometrics appointment for AOS. It seems redundant...but I can sort of understand it because it's another way to track that the person they're dealing with is the same person they interviewed for the K1, etc.
