Transfers to CSC were rumored to be faster but it doesn't look like that's the case. Benny hasn't lived anywhere outside Berlin so I don't know what takes background checks (or whatever they're doing) so long.

to those who received their EAD lately and used that as a legal presence document in applying for california state id/driver's license how long did it take before you receive your id? i applied jan 28 and until now i still don't have my id. i went to DMV yesterday and they told me that it's still pending due to verification of my legal presence document. hello, it's not like i'm illegal. besides, i can always renew my ead card supposing i haven't received my gc yet before it expires. i don't understand why they make things so hard. in some states, AOS noa1 is enough but in cali it seems that they want the greencard. i am not really in hurry to have my greencard before but now that things are harder when you don't have it i am starting to feel frustrated because i don't know when i will get it. it sucks when you are stuck in a busy local office.

Limited Term Legal Presence

All original and pending driver license or identification cards will expire on the expiration date of his/her birth date and legal presence document (BD/LP) issued by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Your BD/LP document must have an expiration date 30 or more days from your application date. If your BD/LP document has an expiration date less than 30 days, you will not be able to start a driver license or identification card application.

If your BD/LP document has an expiration date of less than 60 days, you may complete your licensing requirements (written/vision/driving tests), but you will need to submit another BD/LP document with an expiration date of 60 days or more before your driver license or identification card is mailed to you.

Before your limited term driver license expires, the department will mail out an “extension” letter with instructions on how to complete your application for a driver license.

If your current name no longer matches the name on your birth date/legal presence document, see "True Full Name" and "How to Change Your Name" for more information.

I don't see anything about how long it's supposed to take. I personally would be calling customer service and finding out where specifically it is in process.

Hi...

It's been more than 30 days now that I too don't have that ID from DMV. I'm also from CA (SoCal). I don't think of it much cause I have a temporary license that will expire on May.Although its just a paper which cannot be used for identification. I think they really verify everything as fraud is rampant nowadays. At least I have my EAD for identification and legal presence evidence.

Let's continue to hang on. DL, transfers or interview letter and GC will be on our mailboxes soon...(as well as employment)...

Is anyone waiting over 90 days after they filed in November to receive their EAD? My NOA letter was dated 11/28/08, Bio was taken on 12/17/08 and up till now i dont have my EAD. My lawyer said to wait till 3/17/09 ~ 90 days after the fingerprints were taken to get the EAD.

My sis had a similiar time line like me. She took her Bio on March 18, 2008 and recieved her EAD on June 6 which is roughly 80 days after her Bio. Im running on 78 days since my bio, so im hoping i get something pretty soon. She didnt recieve any touches or notices on CRIS just like me.

This waiting game is horrible.... i hatewaiting

I don't think your lawyer is correct. If it passed more than 90 days since the date on the NOA, you are to call USCIS, or better yet, schedule an InfoPass, UNLESS you received an RFE in the meantime (since the date on the NOA). An RFE resets the "90 days" as of the date they re-started the processing.

11/17/08 : Application sent (I-130, I-131, I-485, I-765)

11/18/08 : Official receipt of documents stated on I-797C (Signature for receipt at USCIS was on 11/17/2008 at 10PM)

11/28/08 : NOA Received ( I-797C) for all 4 forms (forms issued on 11/26/2008)

12/18/2008: LUD on I-130, I-131, I-765

01/29/2009: Bio done

01/29, 30/2009: LUD on I485 and I765

2/10/2009: issued AP, valid 1 year for multiple entries.

2/23/2009: Got EAD card

3/8/2009: LUD on all applications. Shows approval of I131 and I765, still pending on I130, I485.

04/28/2009 at 9:30 AM: Interview. Told to wait 90 days for a resolution by mail.

05/01/2009: Card production ordered.

05/06/2009: Received approval NOAs for I130 and I485 (welcome notice, 10 years card). I130 still shows case received and pending.

06/18/2009: got the 10 years validity card. Process length: 213 days since sending the applications.

No RFE at all along the process.

I had my interview today and it went super smoothly! We were probably in the interview for 15 minutes max. He barely looked at our evidence and hardly asked any questions. It's such a relief to have this done with!
