Perhaps so. But strategy has nothing to do with who you like or not. It has to do with sacrificing the small so you can get the big. That's what appointing Lieberman to a cabinet post could accomplish for BHO and the democrats.

Then make him the Ambassador to a country far, far away with little global significance.

Again - the position would have to be juicy enough for him to accept it....
