Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

We celebrated on Sunday. We made a guy out of chicken wire, paper mache, old T-shirts & paint and threw him on our firepit. And had brats on the grill, baked beans, roast potatoes & homemade tomato soup. And got out some old sparklers. And read November 5th poems from a book I got off Amazon.

I love Bonfire Night.

Wow. :o

I want to cook an appropriate meal tonight...what can I cook....that isn't fish n'chips...

you definitely need to make jacket potatoes, no chips! the food needs to be something that makes you feel warm, comfort food i guess? steak, as you said, would work or how about something barbecue style to go with it?

I had my first Bonfire Night tonight :)

So from what I can tell, drunk chavs set off fireworks all week long in the rain and I was supposed to eat mushy peas with a pork pie sitting in the middle. I didn't know about this so all the butchers were closed by this time but I went to the local chippy to get some peas.

I asked Jonny what this Penny for the Guy was all about and he told me kids show up with a Guy in a wheelbarrow and ask for a penny, I think if this happened before he had a chance to tell me about it I would have peed myself laughing... or got very scared, possibly both.

It was Guy Fawkes here last night. Hardly heard a thing round our place..mind the weather sucked. I imagine they will make up for it the weekend coming.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

chavs set them off in the daytime too, which is great because you can really see them?

i remember coming back from the netherlands one year on guy fawkes night and people on the plane (mostly dutch) were most disturbed by all these "explosions" coming from the ground as we spent an hour circling heathrow. the pilot had to inform everyone that it was just some "weird" british celebration and that everything was fine.

Aww, how come? We had fireworks on 4th of July here. I think they were kinda old cos they were very unpredictable. we had one rocket explode a foot above our heads and more than half of them had homing devices for other people's windows. We'll never buy fireworks from Poundland* again! :P

would you rather he made a Guy and wheeled him around the neighborhood in a stolen grocery cart asking for money? :D:lol:

*Before anyone asks... no, we didn't literally didn't buy them from Poundland.

Yesterday I was working a show and one of the Stagehands came over the radio and said "Anyone know what November 5th is famous for"? One of the hired hands from the University we were performing at said "Guy Fawkes". The Stagehand repeated the name over the radio and the person asking the question said "No, it's the date from Back to the Future". (11.5.55)

well, I kinda stole SteveLaura's idea...

I grilled some brats and made some chips and baked beans. Hubster had an English beer. He was happy with it and the brats were fantastic. I know brats aren't English, but it's sausage and that's clsoe enough for hubster...
