Most of these yahoos don't know voters don't usually vote for/against the VP candidate but the for/against the presidential candidate. The economy played a much larger role but the Dems didn't handle it any better. The GOP was left holding the bag of IOUs.

I disagree, there were many people I talked to who didn't vote for McCain because of her. McCain is not the youngest person to be running for president and if they had won and he kicked the bucket... we would've been stuck with the "I see Russia from my house" lady. And no, many of us didn't want that to happen.

If Obama, God forbid, passes in one way or another, we get Biden. Not a bad deal in my opinion.

Oh come on. The election was the democrats' to lose. All things considered, if the republicans managed to win the election, no matter WHO their two candidates were, it would be a miracle and proof of God's existence.

The economy did play a big role - but I don't think McCain's age can be discounted in relation to the selection of Palin. When she was announced it got people's attention - but really it only galvanised the Republican base. I think Independents who were curious about who she was recoiled after those terrible interviews she did and McCain's campaign never really recovered - except to throw out that half-a$$ed Joe the Plumber rubbish.

If McCain were to become incapacitated during his term of office (as happened to Ariel Sharon at a similar age) Palin would have become president. I think that idea horrified a lot of people and IMO - it put a bigger emphasis on the VP candidate than it ordinarily would have.

Amazingly, I actually liked this Palin.

She didn't sound like she was saying any rehearsed lines, or avoiding any questions.

She sounded like she was speaking from her heart.

I respect that.

I'm super smart, everything that comes out of my mouth is breathtaking, my hairdo is out of this world, got class and style, I dress like a queen...a beauty queen

Ironically, that was the same pitch Obama used in San Francisco when was talking about rednecks in PA clinging to guns and religion. The man knows how to tailor his message to his audience.

And strangely it didn't seem to cost him PA at the polls...

I totally agree with that,

Problem here is that we needed a translator to figure out what she was trying to say

many republicans turned their backs on the republican party because of her and only her.
Maybe so - but even so, many more turned their backs on the republican party due to bush and cheny's antics over the past 8 years.

i don't agree.

Actually, I was half expecting shots to ring out and for Obama to clutch his chest while he was giving his acceptance speech. I was thinking, "Wow - President Biden" and just imagining the riots that would result.

I think you give the voters too much credit.
