Author Michael Crichton Dies

"Jurassic Park" author and "ER" creator Michael Crichton died Tuesday at age 66, according to his Web site.

The novelist passed away in Los Angeles after a private battle with cancer. His family said the death was unexpected.

"While the world knew him as a great story teller that challenged our preconceived notions about the world around us — and entertained us all while doing so — his wife Sherri, daughter Taylor, family and friends knew Michael Crichton as a devoted husband, loving father and generous friend who inspired each of us to strive to see the wonders of our world through new eyes," his family said on his site.

"He did this with a wry sense of humor that those who were privileged to know him personally will never forget."

A private funeral service is planned.

Oh, no. Brilliant author. I've read all of his stuff.

Jurassic Park is an incredible book. So much better then the movie. That is saying a lot cause I thought the movie was really good too.

Some were a bit long and some were a bit out there. But, in the end, they weren't books I said, geez, I just wasted hours of my life reading.

Oh, yes, sad indeed. I couldn't place the name until I read about the ER thing. Perhaps that was one of the reasons why the series was brought to an end? It was time though - it had played its course. Anyway, sad and too bad.
