I had my AOS interview october 27th. Everything went ok, the officer didnt really ask us many questions, he just went over the for i had filled out and ask me everything just making sure i had filled out ok.. he didnt ask any personal questions to me or husband about how we met or anything like that. I had prepared a folder with joint bank accounts, lease agreements and deed for our house. Also had photo album with pictures of both of us with each others families and friends. I asked him if he wanted to see all of this and he said sure... so he kinda looked trough them. After that he just said that he knows that my I-130 was approved but he didnt have a copy of the file and didnt know why did they approved it if we hadnt sent any proof that we were living together (i forgot to send this in) . He said he didnt have much to ask since my i-130 was already approved and he didnt have a hard copy. he said we were done and that he was going to make a recommendation for my AOS to be approved.. and that we should hear in the next 4-6 weeks.

he didnt specificly said it was approved, so we ask him and he said "I'm making a recomendation to approve you, but is not up to me"

what does this mean? I thought he was supposed to approve me, deny me or say we needed to bring more info....

So has anyone had this happen before? What does it mean?

Thanks everyone!

The recommendation to approve you happened to most people who were interviewed in the Seattle office for the last 2-3 weeks. So far, approval notices and GC production ordered is what is being reported. One even has the GC in hand after 2 1/2 weeks! I think it's just that some IOs are not yet able to independently approve applications without another IOs review.

Don't worry, it looks like you'll be approved!

The I-130 is the form that requires burden of proof to show it is a bona fide relationship. As it is already approved, I wouldn't worry anymore. If he had a doubt, he would have asked to see more proofs. :)

You are approved, it is just a formality for them to have their supervisors review their cases, it seems.

AOS Approved on 10-17-08 (details in profile)

Removal of Conditions on 07-19-10

In this tedious process, we tend to forget that this is all worth it.

I love my hubby beyond anything in this world.

Just had our AOS interview yesterday in Seattle office. I was also surprised not to receive an immediate response that it was approved or rejected.

After we were notified that the interview was over I asked if we were approved, the response from the officer was:

"I don't make the final decision, at least two other people will look at your file first before approval. If I were to approve you now and then an issue surfaced it would be very difficult for us to retract that approval. A letter will be sent in a few weeks with the results."

I figured we weren't approved and maybe they just wanted to avoid confrontation at the interview and send rejection letter in mail instead. I am relieved to read the responses for others in the same situation, looks like my assumption is wrong.

Thanks everybody for keeping us updated!

I spoke with a lawyer in Chicago and she told me that they review and approve AOS usually on Friday on Monday - cases from the previous week. So hopefully you will hear something tomorrow! Let us know, my interview is on Monday, also in Chicago.

When you get a chance, could you please give us a short review of how your interview went and what questions were you asked?
