People laughed when I suggested there'd be a concession by 11pm EST.

Yes We DID!

People thought we couldn't overcome the outrageous attacks.

Yes We DID!

People thought we couldn't overcome the ridiculous lies.

Yes We DID!

Now there is NO DOUBT that we live in a country where anything is possible.

Yes We DID!

And as soon as my First Lady gets here, I'm going to play Commander-In-Chief.

Yes I WILL!

My President, Your President, OUR President.

It was a BEAUTIFUL time here in Chicago...and it's only getting better by the second.

Goodnight VJ....you wake up part of the new American History.

God Bless America

I was impressed with both McCain's concession speech and Obama's acceptance speech.

Yes, McCain's speech was well thought out. Very well prepared.

I hope his supporters are as well prepared to accept our new President.

If they're not prepared, I'm glad that we live in a free country,

where there's always the option to leave.

 Lastnight was a remarkable evening for all of us. I am so pleased to see this day has come for change. My parents were overflowed with joy. To think they had struggled all these years just to get even close to something as amazing as lastnight fills my heart with happiness. I can not believe it still and I am still in a state of shock. I am so happy that Obama had so many supportors even though he was different from the past 43rd presidents. I must say this has been a "wake-up call" for all of the Americans annd foreigners alike. All my friends overseas are extremely overjoyed! They all supported Obama and understood it was time to "change". If things do not change, they will remain the same and we do not want to live in a world without change. I am so happy that my children are going to be able to experience the first time a man as such has became president; something so amazing has occured. I am so happy today, I really feel good and I know that God is good and only God can create such a miracle. Thank you God, you are the greatest and I appreciate all you do to create change and to soften the hearts of the individuals in this world. :star: God bless the USA and all the world with happiness, peace, and understanding! :star: Edited by ~Dream Love~

How gracious of you to tell the 49% of voters who didn't vote for Obama they are free to leave the country. What a jerk!

"The nationwide popular vote was remarkably close. Totals from 73 percent of all U.S. precincts tallied showed Obama with 51.3 percent to McCain’s 47.5 percent."

The world changes and it doesn't solely revolve around who's in the White House.

So if McCain won you'd be cursing God now? There was no miracle given the economic shocks in the last two months, the GOP was screwed.

I just hope congress plays nice now. And, that I'm not disappointed in yet another candidate I had such high hopes for that later leaves me banging my head against a wall asking why.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

Fair enough, but just saying this isn't a unique sentiment.

Thanks Donna for your support.

Do not misconstrue my words to say that the 49% who didn't vote for Obama are free to leave.

But please do understand my sentiment that 100% who are unable to accept OUR new President, are free to leave.

If McCain were elected, I would be sad, but I would accept that it was what the vote had decided.

If McCain were elected, I would not propagate the bashing and scare tactics, and slinging of mud that

many McCain supporters began during the election and continue after it's been settled.

There are some people who simply can not accept this. For most of my life I've had to live in a country

where the President was not one of my choosing. But I accepted those Presidents, and sometimes I was pleasantly surprised

by their leadership. For some of you this is the first time that you will live in a country where the President is not of your choosing,

and you have a choice to accept it, or as I've been reminded far too often...you have the option to leave.

It's a free country. It's my country, it's your country, it's OUR country.

God Bless America!

I can see responding the way you did but no one brought up not accepting the election results on this thread- that's was totally your creation.

Most people accept election results and with the exception of the American Civil War it doesn't lead to blood in the streets. It's a sign of a mature democracy that has seen 43 presidents come and go in peaceful succession. The idea is if your candidate loses better luck next time at the polls not to tell people to shut up or find a another country if can't accept the election results. You can accept losing and still complain about the new president because they aren't mutually exclusive.

Sure people can leave but I haven't heard of any high profile McCain supporters threatening to leave the country if Obama won unlike previous statements from Hollywood types in the last couple of elections.
