I just want the stock market and price of oil to go up.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

you assumed in your original post that he would have been a slave
No I didn't. Go back and look at the post and see what it ACTUALLY says.

there was a time when Obama would have been someone else's slave.
That would be prior to emancipation. In case you have not noticed, we had not had legally had slavery in America since.

had had had? lol, getting tired?

you cannot assume he would have been a slave.

You don't mean the price of oil DOWN?

Do you somehow benefit from an increase in oil prices?

If you do, then good for you.

Likewise, I hope the stock market goes up.

No, up and up.

My state's income is about 85% derived from oil royalties. So, the more oil sells for, the more my state gets. The more the state gets from oil royalties, the less likely it is to raise my taxes.

Understood.

For the rest of us...oil increases kind of increases the prices of commuting, travel, and goods delivered.

But for you and your state, I hope the price of oil in Alaska increases. :-)

I think you mean "secede".

Very gracious of you. Thank you (:

But trust me, no one in America (except maybe Hawaii) pays more for the cost of travel and goods delivered. We also have the highest average gas price in America - but typically not much commuting. Nevertheless - high oil prices are good oil prices (:

Just like our President-Elect, I've never been to Alaska.

What's the deal with the high gas price? I thought I heard your gas tax was comparatively low.

Yes, we are the only state in America with dead bodies, convicts and lame politicians.

What's the deal with the high gas price? I thought I heard your gas tax was comparatively low.
It's true. We currently have NO state gas tax (it was suspended recently). We also pull the oil out of the ground here, and we refine the oil here. There is no obvious reason why we have the highest prices in the nation - other than the simple that that people will pay it. Now, we know that people will pay higher prices elsewhere, but their prices are lower than what people will pay. So why does that not happen here? It's clear that simple supply and demand is not the explanation. Personally, I think it comes down to the simple fact that the oil companies know they can screw Alaska and the rest of the nation will not care - that it will not cause the big uproar that it would in say, Texas, and so they do what they want with impunity. That's my answer.

Actually - if you meant anything else, then I have no idea what you are referring to. "Floaters" refers to dead bodies in the water up here.

Well, if nothing else, maybe Palin's candidacy will put Alaska (figuratively) on the USA map.
