I have an AOS medical coming up. It will be done here in the States. Has anyone else had a medical done here? What was it like? How....um....."detailed" was it. I know that the form instructions state that you will have to get undressed, but do they really do intimate examinations?! Or is it more a case of asking questions? Not concerned so much as curious. My husband will come with me, think I'd like him in the room while all this is going on.....

Thanks Kezzie,

What were the blood tests for? To check immunity against certain diseases?

How much did you pay for this? We've been quoted around $300 depending on what/if any vaccinations I need to get.

There's 2 blood tests, for HIV I know that for sure, and for something else maybe hepatitis or some other disease. My medical costed about $250 and that was without vaccinations. I heard of people finding cheaper medicals, but I wasn't that successful.

Duh, stupid me. I forgot about the HIV and think it's Syphilis test. That sounds okay then. Well I dont think I'll get cheaper than around $300. Still, it seems alot to me, when they wont really be doing that much.

In our case (well mine, since I'm the one who got probed lol) they did a superficial gyno exam as well, besides everything that was mentioned already.

We paid $133 for the whole thing - pretty cheap, compared to what we've seen others have been quoted ...

This was in Redding, CA btw

Mine was pretty cheap, thanks to a VJ member who suggested a place here in NJ. I paid $85 for medical, plus $30 for the drawing of blood (HIV & Syphillis). DOctor said the labwork will be paid by my insurance. $115 in all.

I only had Td shot before, so she asked me if i want the immunizations for the rest or a tither. I chose the latter and didn't pay for it coz it's included in the $30 bloodwork for HIV and SYph. The results were fine so I didn't have to take the shots. For anyone interested, it's Springfield Medical Arts, NJ. The place looks so old, though, but it really doesn't matter.

Try to find some more, you might save a hundred bucks or so.

I had mine done at Virginia Department of Health at Staunton VA and everything (not including the vaccines - as I already had proof I had them) cost $50. It was a through exam. I was even warned about having unprotected sex with guys other than my husband! The nurse who gave me the warning said it is standard procedure and everytime someone gets tested for sexually transmitted diseases they have to give them the warning.
