I am trying to get all the documentation together to begin the process of filing for a k1 finace visa, but I'm not sure what supporting documentation I need to show intent to marry if any at this stage of the process?? I have supporting documentation verifying we have known each other for 2 years and all that. What else do I need??

You do not need to prove that you have known each other for two years... you need to prove you have been in each others presence (face to face) at some point in the last two years

YMMV

Right. Start by studying the K1 guide. You'll be filing a petition, not an application. After the petition is approved, your fiance(e) will be allowed to submit a visa application. You prove intent to marry with signed letters of intent from each of you. See examples in the guides.

If you give more info like what country your applying to for the visa it would help. The requirements can be different depend on what country your applying to.

The country "applying to" will be the USA. Nobody has yet applied for anything. What you're asking about is the country from which the foreign fiance will later apply for a visa.

My finace is from the Dominican Republic.

  • 2 weeks later...

My finace was arrested for not having registration papers for his motorcycle while driving it. Will this affect his visa approval process? He was only in jail for about an hour before they let him go after he paid the fine. Is that ground for answering the question on the form ds-156 about being arrested?
