My fiance is really considering of moving to the UK instead of me moving to the States. I get my interview on the 18th Nov and I will be carrying on as planned. The reason for this is I have now had a very good offer in England. Were still at 2 minds whether for me to go over and get married then move over on a spouse visa or for Lara to come over on a fiance visa.

Does anyone have any advice on what's the best options are for a US citizen moving to the UK either on a fiance or spouse visa? Also can anyone tell me if Lara will get NHS in the UK.

Thanks.

Yes, it takes about a week or two to get a visa back, it cost us last December just over 500 pounds. Yes she can get NHS as soon as she steps off the plane (as long as you're married). Yes she is allowed to work in the UK (once again, as long as you're married.) She can get a National Insurance Number at a local job center which handles the interviews. The only thing she is NOT allowed which is similar to the US anyway is recourse to public funds. Oh yeah, not allowed to vote either.

uk-yankee has a lot of good info and if you ever want any personal experience, you can PM me as I'm currently living in the UK on a FLR visa  If you are located close enough, I would love to meet up with her if she ever gets lonely. Sometimes you miss a familiar accent and just want to rant about things you miss from home.
