I've felt like that all day, Amby. It sucks. But I'm not feeling full, just sick to my stomach.

Oh I do love the sun. Its a balmy 46 and there is no wind. So I'm pretending its warmer than it actually is.

Good morning everybody. I'm at work early today. Who's here to keep me company?

Nessa, I say 12 weeks is good, but not nearly enough ;) And if you have to give up Direct TV or Netflix for a few months, isn't it more important to have time with your baby? You're right he won't be a baby forever and it's important to enjoy it. I don't think you sound lazy at all. Hell, if we can afford it, Patrick would have me take off an entire semester (20 weeks) if we got preggers.

I don't need to give up on some of my luxuries just because of a few less paychecks. I'd have to if I didn't have an income at all. My co-workers said I'd probably quit when I have the baby because 12 weeks leave is not enough blah blah blah, what they don't know is that we need the money and I'm the kind of person that would go crazy if I didn't have something to do, I need to have a job.

so I guess Charles gave in?

he's being a good husband. He knows it's important to me.

oh, and when i get back to work after my leave, i'll have at least 4 weeks of 40 years, that's at least 40 hours extra, which would be another paycheck and almost a half. we're down to less than 2 paychecks unpaid :P

You are really trying to build a case aren't you. I'm guessing Charles has not been positive so far?

yes, i knew i should've gone to law school  i only talked to him once, i had my mind set on 6 weeks, because someone, maybe my boss, talked about 6 weeks, then i started to read about everybody else takes 12 weeks, so i was like why, and i read the FMLA and i'm entitle to 12 weeks. so i started considering but he didn't like the idea.

Nessa, have you considered doing a combination of leave + reduced schedule?

You don't have to take the 12 weeks all in one block, you could do something like 6 weeks full leave, and then reduced schedule, or reduced week, for the remaining leave balance. I don't know Charles' schedule but maybe a combination like that would help with taking care of the baby, while bringing in some income. You should talk to your HR dept to look into all your options :)

Saludos,

Caro

I have a cold. I might just go home in a bit. I am totally useless at work today. My body feels like I got into a fight last night.

Let's look for wedding invitations. How many? Colour? Budget?

Probably 65 max. Looking for red, green and white. Thinking a floral theme, maybe poppies.

it'll be summer and they really need me during the summer cuz it's crazy here. So i'll take the 12 weeks and charles can take paid leave for a couple weeks so we can extend the baby being at home as much as we can. he!!, he could take a few months paid leave if he wanted, but i know'he'd be bored to death to stay home all taht time

Hey Nessa

I'm around. I've been surfing the net looking for 'unique' but economical wedding invites.

have a nude wedding, that way everyone knows who's the best man.
