Hello everyone,

Its been two weeks since i got here to see my fiance and this is my third week and i am loving it. Sorry I took long to inform you guys.

I arrived here on 6th October and my POE was Washington Dulles Airport. The lines were terribly long and the officer was nice and he asked if i knew how to say "I love you" in Russian. It was nice seeing my Honey again.

Now planning a wedding and moving up and down. Thank you so much everyone here for all the help you gave us till this point. Wishing everyone God's blessings and much happiness.

Welcome to you.

It is a great feeling to be with your other half and plan your wedding day together

Good luck to you both and enjoy your time together

Hey everyone, my husband and I are trying to get our documents together for his CR1 visa. Can anyone tell me what we need to do as my husband does not have a birth certificate as he was born at home and his birth was not registered? Is there a way to get a certified birth certificate created in Uganda or what can we do? Also, I am trying to prepare for NVC stage and I am wondering if there are any signed documents or evidence I will need from him to complete the process? I want David to put any needed documents in the mail to me soon if they will be needed for NVC, as you all know how the mail in East Africa is. Thanks so much in advance for your help. -Emily

Welcome home Nick&Ann and God's blessings in your wedding preparations. Its the best feeling ever to be with the one you love and get to share the love together when closer :P!!!

My POE was Washington Dulles Airport too in 2010. I didnt like it coz the lines were long and we only had like four counters serving non-citizens. No problem with the Officers but I missed my flight  plus it was during summer time and the heat was too much.... then jetlag:hehe: But I finally made it...... :)

Hey Emily, you can have your husband go to the Uganda Registration Services Bureau which is in Kampala, Uganda and apply for a birth certificate. He can contact them using these numbers and ask for further information from them

Uganda Registration Services Bureau

Plot 5 George Street, Georgiana House

P.O.Box 6848 Kampala Uganda

URSB General Line: +256 414 233 219

Registrar General: +256 414 235 915

URSB Fax: +256 414 250 712

Director Business Registration: +256 414 258 819

Director Civil Registration: +256 414 341 663

Director Intellectual Property: +256 414 258 818

He will also need to have a police clearance certificate, from Uganda. You need documents to prove that your union is not for immigration purpose... things like taxes filed together, bank accounts in both your names, wedding pictures with family members, chat messages to prove that you still communicate....such and any solid evidence you may have to support your marriage as true.

He should also check to see if he will need a police clearance certificate from Kenya, coz he will have his interview in Nairobi Embassy when your case is approved. Its a tough embassy.

Im sure someone from Uganda will give more details of what you need, especially the ones who have gone through the process recently.

I wish you all the best and please dont hesitate to ask any questions here. You will get more help. Good luck.

Thank you so much for this advice. I will get him working on obtaining his birth certificate and police certificate right away. I already sent him info on how to get his police certificate. He has a family friend that works with Interpol so hopefully the process of receiving his police certificate won't be too difficult. My husband and I started an NGO in Mbale, Uganda back in March. Do you think it would help to include our NGO paperwork with our names on it as founders together? We are having our I-130 processed at the Atlanta field office so I hope that the recent transfers of the i130s to local field offices will speed up the process. I know I will have hundreds of questions throughout the process so I am so thankful for the support of all of you on this thread.

Hey all....it has been a really long time since we posted on this thread.....we are one of the original starters of this thread back three years ago.....just wanted to give you all hope and know that the journey will one day end.....my husband passed his citizenship/naturalization interview today!!!!! We only have the oath ceremony left to be sworn in.......we should get the date in the mail soon.

So, stay encouraged and persistent and positive and patient!!!!! The process will come to an end one day........you just have to go through each phase step-by-step.......always tell the truth and be consistent about all your answers.....you are asked the same things at every step of the way and you should ensure that you answer the same replies every time. Good luck and God Bless!!!!

Hi everyone!

Nairobi has mostly gone well so far, and more importantly, Aaron's medical exam was just fine, despite the 3 x-rays they insisted on giving him (and having us pay for). We're gearing up for the interview Monday. Hope all of you are well. I feel prepared due to all the stories and advice here, but of course I'm not the one actually going for the interview. We're going through all the paperwork I prepared (with expert VJ assistance) together, though, and I'm hoping the stack of paperwork will be fortifying for him at the embassy...
