That's crazy that all three of us are in the same boat! There was 3 packets sent to Kenya in late DEC. in one way I wonder if they are ours and some how NVC screwed up.

Every time I have talked to the NVC, they said it cold take up to 90 days, which I think is kind of like the 6 month rule at CSC and VSC, meaning they won't do anything till then. We will be 4 weeks from approval on Friday.

Let us know what you find out when you call the embassy, because then I will send Allan a copy of the approval and send him to Kenya. That would be good and at least I would feel like we were making some progress again.

Hey Guys......

Well, I called the embassy and the lady said the following:

1)No, they have not received our case.....(I tried just in case it was a fluke that NVC didn't know our case was gone......well, I should get an "E" for effort at least)

2)We have to wait until we receive the appointment letter from NVC to pick up the packet and do the medical because she said the medical will expire, so we have to wait. I asked her if we can call there once we know the package made it to Nairobi or do we have to wait for the letter from NVC and she said we would probably receive the letter before the package arrives there. Not sure about that........ARK1 and MADWOMAN Please Advise: Did you guys receive the NVC appointment letter before you called?

3)I asked about the change in doctors.....she said that they just changed them and the old ones are only good for the next two months, so, it may be best to just use the new ones.

So, that was the information that I got......let's hope we all leave NVC this week!!!! We will get through this together.

My fiance made an appointment with the embassy to pick up packet 3 (but I have heard you don't need an appointment if you have your letter from NVC) because he never got it in the mail. I don't think he ever got a letter from the NVC saying that he could pick up packet 3, although I got a letter from NVC saying the application had been sent to Nairobi. Once he got packet 3 the embassy told him to call one of the doctors on the list in the packet to make an appointment and when he was done with the medical he called the embassy to make an appointment for his interview. I am not sure how long it takes for the embassy to recieve the application, we wasted about 2 months waiting for the embassy to send and then resend packet 3 before he finally went to the embassy. Hope this helps!

Thanks luvhas!!

I have a question does the NVC show that they have recived your package and just not processed it?They say they don't even have mine.

It is so nice to have this group where we can help eachother. i do feel blessed we are going through kenya as apposed to some other african cunsulates. Kenya seems to be fairly easy to get through.

I was hoping to have my SO here by the end of Feb, but now I will probablly move that back to March. We are still in the home strech though!!

Soon~tobe: I've received three letters saying that they have my case and it will be sent to Nairobi within the week....unfortunately the letters were dated Dec. 18, 19, and 23....and our case was still at NVC as of last Thursday. Also, when I called them, they do have our case in the system. Are you talking to a live person? Because it will not show up on the automated response at all.

SheFell: I hope your fiance gets well soon. I've never had malaria but am sure he is not feeling well. I was able to avoid it the two times I went to Rwanda....but I remember the pills making me nauseated.

Hi everyone! Sorry it has taken me so long to respond--I'm not checking e-mail as regularly these days. Thanks everyone for the congratulations!

As far as the medical, I called them and made an appointment before we had the papers. I kind of lied and told them I already had my interview date (The Embassy had told me they couldn't make aninterview date so far in advance).

To get into the Embassy to get the papers required NO APPOINTMENT. I brought both my NOA2 and the NVC letter with the new case number but I noticed that all they looked at was the NVC case number. They didn't really care about the NOA2 so i would bring the letter from NVC.

I'm sorry, I can't remember if they actually checked the number before giving us the packet. But if you or your SO are already in Kenya there is no harm just showing up and acting as if they already have your case. Even if they do check it and they say it hasn't arrived, I don't see why they wouldn't give you the packet if you say you are already there with your case number. I'm sure you could plead your case. they are pretty nice over there. Also, Dr Asuga's office is also really nice. If they are accepting them for the next two months, it might be worth still seeing a doctor who is experienced with Embassy proceedure.

Basically I found that if I pleaded my case, people were pretty willing to help. THis included moving our interview to a day that was supposedly already "full".

I wish everyone who is still waiting the best of luck!!!!! Your day will come soon! Thank yoiu everyone for your support, I'm so glad we are all contributing and helping each other out on this thread :) I'm sure when Hiller gets to America we'll be needing more support with the adjustment!

We finally got the letter from the NVC dated 24th December and Hard Copy of the NOA2 in the mail. We called the NVC and they told us that our case has been forwarded to the Embassy. I finally managed to call the embassy and they confirmed to me that the packet is there and i should go and pick it .

So I will go sometime next week after i receive the docs from my fiance.

Congrats shefell! I am glad they have your NOA2. Good luck getting everything scheduled.

NVC is still claiming it doesn't have my case....grrr makes me so sad, I really didn't think I would have to worry about the NVC part of the journey. If I have to wait 90 days before they will do anything I sure won't get my April wedding. :(
