I was reading information on Nairobi and forms needed. It says somewhere,

"A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond the applicant's intended period of stay in the United States (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions). Make sure your fiance does not simply renew his/her passport. A NEW passport is needed. This isn't entirely draconian on the embassy's part. Renewed Kenyan passports are done in such a way that would raise red flags in most developed countries' ports of entry."

What does this mean? I should get a new passport?

Please provide the link of where you see that. I need to see it in it's entirety to make an educated guess. Ben's kenyan passport expired in December of 2018, and it was not a problem. He did not have to obtain a "new" passport. If your passport expires years from now, I don't see an issue.

You're fine. You only have to get a new passport if your current one expires in 6 months or less.

Oh God, no...no...no...do NOT use the instructions here on VJ for anything involving the Embassy. It's not up-to-date at all. You're passport is fine like Katie said. Only follow the Embassy instructions on the "Embassy Website"...never here on VJ. Geez! Don't scare me like that, lolol.:luv:

Ok, yeah. I thought this was strange.

I just wanted to clarify...the reason I said not to use the VJ instructions as far as the Nairobi Embassy goes is because as much as VJ tries to keep that information current, it can change at any given moment. As we were going through the process, I read that page and saw how "out of date' it was. It has been updated since, but as you can see, there are still bits and pieces of it that are incorrect. Basically, this process is difficult enough, and the Nairobi Embassy is a truly difficult one to say the least. We will have a much better outcome if we follow their instructions precisely from their website...at least if we do that, we know we are going down the right path. :star::) Just my two cents... (F)
