WOW CONGRATS!!! Things will move really fast for you now. As long as there are Interview dates Available you could have him here before the end of the year. Are you still planning on going and spending some time in Uganda, or just staying here now that things are so close?

Thanks! I am still planning on going--my ticket is for Dec 18th! But how long I will stay will depend on when Hiller has his interview. I found out I can extend my ticket for a minimal fee so hopefully I will be able to schedule the interview in Nairobi before I leave and then extend my ticket so Hiller and I can come back together. I don't think we'll be able to schedule the interview before Jan because of all those holidays..but who knows? Right now I'm thinking we'll come back the middle of February...if all goes well! :) That will give us time to pack things up and say goodbye to friends without rushing. It is SO NICE to finally know something concrete

Good luck to you!

Hey everyone! I posted this on the June forum--I am so excited!!!! Naraj--how is your fiancee doing? I'm sure you are so excited to see her soon! thank you for all of your help!!!

APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, I can finally write this message I have been longing to write for so long!!!! I took Mike and Gracey's advice and called USCIS. The first worker refused to "escalate my call" saying there was no supervisor available, and that she had all the info to help me. She actually got an attitude about it--I hung up on her I was so frustrated! Called back and the next worker was so nice-- I calmly explained my situation and asked to speak to a supervisor just to be sure about my case. She agreed to escalate my call and the nice supervisor told me what I wanted to here:

APPROVED November 12th!!!!!!

YAY!!!!!!! Thank you everyone for all of your support and advice--I really would have gone crazy without you! Now I hope that the second stage will go more smoothly....but I'm not holding my breath! Just SO GLAD to have some inkling that this will all be over soon. :star:

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!! We're fine, by the way. She's got her visa in hand, so she'll be here soon :D See, I told you that you weren't far behind us. Don't worry, things should move so much quicker now. He can still be here in December if you hurry. Go, go, go!!!

Hey everyone! If you are obsessive like me, here is some more information I found about tracking your case from the NVC to the consulate: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...115441&st=0

I called the NVC today and they told me our petition had left today. So I went to www.dhl.com and to "track by reference". I tracked my case using a variety of dates. EXP 19 NOV 2008A didn't work so I tried 18 and there was nothing to Kenya. But the reference # EXP 17 NOV 2008A turned up one package going to Nairobi! I'm betting this is ours, as not many people are going through Nairobi. DHL says it is now in London! Oh I am so excited--as soon as the consulate receives it, I can call and make the medical exam appt and also make the interview appointment! Yay!!!

Hey everyone :)

A quick update: My petition is now at the Nairobi Embassy (according to DHL tracking)--but I am having trouble getting through to make a doctor's appt. Either no one picks up or the receptionist on the other line doesn't hear me. Any suggestions/similar experiences? I stayed up so late trying to call...this feels a bit frustrating. I'll try to call tomorrow early in the morning...if I can get my lazy self out of bed :innocent:

GOOD NEWS! I was able to call the Nairobi Embassy just now and make our interview appointment for January 12th! The reason for this date is that I will be there with him, so we can travel to Nairobi together :star: :star: The lady at the Embassy was SO NICE, and let me pick out the date to have the interview. All I did was tell them that all our documents were ready and we already had a medical exam appointment (kinda fibbed on that one since the doctor wouldn't let us make an appt that far in advance--I have to call back the middle of Dec. Ok, so I am starting a Nairobi Embassy thread, since there doesn't seem to be one yet, and there is minimal info about the embassy itself (VJ doesn't even include it in the list of consulates, so it's not searchable in the database...)

Here is the info so far (anyone with additional info, please update!)

Nairobi Embassy info here: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...airobi,%20Kenya

Nairobi Embassy Reviews: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Kenya

before she got too Westernized? you mean like half the people on this website, who are no doubt Western women?

Let's use this thread as a place to share stories and information!

My fiance is from Uganda and will be going to Nairobi for his medical and interview. So far, we are still waiting for our NOA2...

What about you? Where is your fiance/e from and how did you meet him or her?

What's up Madwoman,

I tried to create a timeline, but there was no option to choose the Nairobi embassy, or my fiancee's country, so I gave up. Here's a short summary, though:

May 22nd: I-129 Received by Vermont Service Center.

September 10th?: 2nd NOA received by me.

September 21st?: Case forwarded to Nairobi.

September 27th?: Nairobi embassy received paperwork.

September 29th?: Embassy packet mailed by Nairobi embassy.

October 21st: Got tired of waiting for lost packet, made doctor and embassy interview appointments.

October 24th: Sent fiancee to Kenya to pibck up packet in person.

October 28th: Fiancee picked up embassy packet in Nairobi.

October 30th: Medical exam.

November 5th: Vaccinations and medical results scheduled to be received by fiancee.

November 6th: Embassy interview appointment.

November 7th: Date visa would be picked up.

If you notice, the last 3 things on my list are in future tense, so wish us luck!

Looks like you're running about 6 weeks behind us, Madwoman, so I'd guess your fiance's interview will be around mid-December. Probably earlier, if you don't have any hang-ups, and you don't wait around for the embassy packet to show up in the mail (because it probably never will). Good luck!

Thanks so much! Wow--it looks like you speeded through the process! This brings me so much hope, you don't even know! I have seen some people wait MONTHS to get an interview...so your advice about not waiting around for the packet is a good one. I haven't seen anyone from Burundi here on VJ before, how did you two meet?

One more quick question--Have you sent documents to the Embassy yet or will you bring them to the interview? I was surprised that you were able to make an interview date before sending the packet back. I have heard that the documents the Embassy requires are sometimes confusing--what documents exactly have they told you they require?

I feel like I just bombarded you with questions! Sorry...you can tell I am getting excited to move forward with the process and i want to be prepared as possible. I also haven't been able to contact anyone who is NOT from Kenya but has experience with the Nairobi Consulate. THANK YOU SO MUCH for all of your help!

No problem. Stop worrying, I don't think you'll be waiting more than a week or two for the Nairobi Embassy, they're quick. I met my fiancee on the web, but I caught her before she got too westernized, thank goodness.

You have to take the documents with you to the interview, you don't mail them in to Nairobi. You just have to make sure you take the medical forms that are in the packet to the panel physician to fill out (during your exam appointment). There wasn't anything else in the packet that you shouldn't already have prepared. I read the forums here and prepared all of the documents my attorney recommended, and went overkill on it, so I couldn't imagine them possibly asking for anything else. The embassy document recommendations are pretty pitiful in comparison, so as long as you're thorough, there shouldn't be any surprises. She's taking about 5 pounds of documentation with her, so it might take a while to list it all out here, but if you have any specific questions, please ask.

All of my info is absolutely correct and extremely up-to-date as far as I know, so you can trust it. Let me know if you need anything else :)

Hey all, I didn't want our thread to dissapear. Also I have a question, I know some consulates are mainly concerned with what the sponsor currently makes and if that will hold up in the future, and some want to show the 125 % of poverty line for the last 3 years. For those that have already gone through Nairobi, what has been your experience? This year i will make above the amount needed, but last year, when I was in Africa I didn't file taxes because I had no income, as I was volunteering in Uganda. I am planing on having my parents co-sponsor if necessary but I am wondering how necessary it is. I am going to the interview with my man, so I thought about him handing over my sponsorship papers and in the co says anything having my parents ready to hand him. What do you all think?
