Hi friends how things going on I hope y’all doing well, I have question in the consular stage do they ask to show pictures of party engagement, is requirement to have party engagement?

Thanks for your help

They didn't ask for that specifically in my husband's interview. In fact, they didn't ask for any pictures at all. The interviewer just looked at the pictures we had put in the original K-1 petition.

Obviously, bring pictures/e-mails/etc documenting an on-going relationship just in case. But the reality was we were never asked for them.

I have heard some people say they were asked when they got engaged. But I don't think they specifically asked for pictures.

Basically, if you don't have pictures of the engagement party, but have strong proof of an on-going bonafide relationship in your petition and you can answer straightforward questions about your relationship during the interview, you shouldn't have a problem. Nairobi is not the hardest consulate to go through by far.

When if your interview date? Good luck!

Madwoman

Thanks for your help, not yep interview.

Change your name to happywoman since you got your husband lol.

Hello,

Thanks a lot for starting a nairobi thread guys!!!

I just got married 2 months ago in Nairobi and im in California trying to find out as much information about the whole proces as i can. I sent my I-130 Dec 4 2009 and reveived my NOA1 Dec 12 2009...I also filled out the the I129f and have the whole packet ready to be sent out but im not sure if I should because I keep reading that the K3 i'snt such a good idea anymore...I also heard that the nairobi embassy asks for DNA which costs 1000 extra...so if anyone can give me afew tips about how i can prevent that from happening. And if anyone can give me any tips about anything that i should be aware of throughout my whole process i would very much appreciate it.

THANKS!

Congrats on getting married! I'm not sure about the questions you have since I'm doing a K1 but good luck! When you are asking about DNA, do you mean for kids that are involved?

Just wanted to let everyone know that Sifa passed his medical exam - he went to Dr. Patel in Mombasa and had nothing but good things to say about the whole experience! Next up: interview! Jan 11. I'm flying over Jan 6 to go with him. Can't wait!!

Hello All,

I am not sure how to post in this thread, its been a long time! But I wanted to stop by and let everyone know that my wife was sworn in as a US Citizen on Dec. 2, 2009. It was one of the greatest Christmas gifts we could ever ask for. It is so refreshing to be DONE with USCIS forever.

Then my wife gave me the greatest birthday gift of all on Dec. 30th when she told me that she was pregnant with our first child. It has been a fantastic end to a wonderful year. I really hope everyone going through this process finds the results they want and guickly.

All the best to everyone and I hope 2010 is your best year yet. I know I am nervous and excited about all the changes coming our direction.

Thank you

Thank you SheFellfromHeaven. I appreciate the well wishes. It has been an exciting and at times frustrating experience. But I am glad to finally be at the end of the visa journey and to know that my lovely wife and I are starting a family and can be together forever is really a blessing. I never thought we get this far. So there is hope and an end to process, I can now vouch for that!

Hello Katie and Sifa...... I hope that your interview goes well and that you had a safe journey. I hope that we hear some good news regarding the interview once you are done having fun in the sun and warmth of dear old East Africa!

Visa approved!!! We are so happy   It was great being back in Kenya for a few days, too! Sifa will be coming at the end of February or beginning of March once he settles things with his job, visits family, etc. Yayayayay! I can't wait!!

As for the interview, it was really pretty easy - we were surprised how easy it was! We had a 7:00 appointment and got there before 6:00 am. We were 2nd in line, but they let us in first because I am a USC. They allowed me to go up to every window with him. First you go to one window to turn in paperwork, then to another for fingerprinting (the fingerprint machines were broken for a few hours while we were there - I think it took them close to 3 hours to fix them...but if they had been working I feel we would have been in and out in less than an hour considering how short everything else was!) We were called up for the interview almost immediately after fingerprinting. The guy who interviewed us was very nice.

He asked Sifa 3 questions: How did we meet? What kind of work does he want to do in the US? (Sifa said he wasn't sure yet, and the guy didn't have a problem with that) and what kind of work does he do in Kenya? Then he asked to see pictures of us together (I brought 10) and flipped through those quickly, then he said "everything looks good here" and to come back in a week to pick up the passport!

It is SUCH a relief to have this part of the journey ending and knowing that we will be living in the same country again soon! Thanks for your support everyone :)

Hello,

I have been reading through this post and there is alot of great information. The idea of having this type of Forum is greatly appreciated and is helping people like us all over the world.

My question is actually for my friend. His parents have an Interview In Nairobi in a few months. What type of questions can they expect. My friend is a US Citizen and has been living here for 10 years without seeing his parents since moving here.

Thank You for your help :)
