Hi all! My husband has his interview scheduled at the Nairobi Embassy on Feb 26 and we were meant to fly together to US with our kids on Feb 28 at midnight…. Wondering how long you all waited to receive your passport back and Visa after your interview? Also, am I able to accompany him to his interview at the embassy?

Hey, I would not rush to buy tickets without knowing the outcome.  You could be approved right on the spot, in which case your passport with visa should be in your possession within 5 to 7 working days or you could get request for additional evidence like I did...check my timeline.  I had to provide proof that I was indeed the biological mother of my children, which took about a week including sending back info time....I finally got approved almost a month later after the interview.

I agree with Ambassa....it isnt too common to get the passport back so soon. Our case was a medical emergency expedite so they were understanding of our situation.

As for attending the interview: no. Only people who are being interviewed are allowed inside. I just hung out at our hotel which was only a few blocks away and watched a movie.

Good luck!

Hullo Guys.

Am Ugandan living in the states. i want to start my wife and son  process to immigrate.

the question i have is how many tax returns do they need to submit? as the affidavit of support.

this is my 2 rd year living in the US.

thanks

Hi there,

What kind of visa are you here on? It will determine your ability to petition them.

Also, will you have a joint sponsor or will you sponsor them yourself?

If you have a joint sponsor, you dont need to worry so much about your returns. The joint sponsor's returns will matter more. They should include the past 3 years.

Hope this answers your questions and good luck.

Even 1 year of returns is fine as long as you make the minimum income quoted in the filing paperwork. If not then they'll need a sponsor other than yourself. I used my first year returns to file.

Filed I-130 : 11 Mar 2016

I-130 Priority date : 15 Mar 2016

Approved: 03 Jun 2016

Case Complete: 24 Aug 2016

Interview date assigned: 29 Sep 2016

Interview: Nov 2016

Hi everyone,

Im a Ugandan right here in Nairobi waiting for my immigrant visa interview on Monday July 23rd 2018 at 6:30am filed as FA2 category.

I did my medicals on the 17th and 18th of July 2018 and got my immunization certificate. I had done immunity tests for MMR , Varicella, and Hepatitis B in the  US so I was given only Td and Influenza but I paid 25,058 Kenyan Shs in total.

I guess I have all the docs those guys will ask for. I have been to the US over x10 and I have had 3 B1/B2 visas and the last one expires in 2019 but Im very nervous coz I know what can happen inside those interview rooms. I was denied a non-immigrant visa x2 b4 I got one so anything can happen.

Im just praying that I don't get shocked on Monday coz I have waited for over 2 years now. My case was approved in April 2016 so I have been waiting for my priority and final action dates to become current since then.

I was also delayed for about 3 months by our STUPID NIRA. NVC rejected my stupid sub-county birth certificate which I had carried for years not knowing that I was keeping a useless manila paper. I then I applied to NIRA for an original birth certificate in March 2018 and they told me to check again in 3 weeks which turned into 3 months. I had to write back to NVC that the STUPID NIRA isnt helping me at all and they also realized that its a shithole service en scheduled my interview without that original birth certificate. After ignoring NIRA for months, they finally printed their paper on July 11th.

I will update you after my interview on Monday en also share my experience.

Thanks,

The questions and documents asked will depend on your visa category.

Mine was F2A, married to a US LPR who went to US on a student visa and we have 3 children who are US citizens and I had been to US  x7 in the last 2 years.

They ask questions from the documents they already have just to verify the info.

When and how did u meet?

When did u get married?

When and how did she go to US?

What does she do in the US?

Have ever been convicted of any .....

Have u ever been to US or stayed longer than 6 months?

Simple simple questions

If ur on a K-1 visa, yr questions will be a bit different tho en u have a lot to prove.

Hey, for those people who have already done their medicals at the IMO and have had their interviews, did the IMO give you guys a copy of your sealed medical report (apart from the immunization record and a receipt) to take to the interview with you? I know they said that they send a copy to the embassy directly, I am just wondering if they are also required to hand each person a copy of their medical results to take with them to the interview.

Thanks.

They usually give you a CD with your medical results. At least that's what they gave me.
