I just wanted some clarification. When are we supposed to schedule the medical? Do we need to wait until we get some notification from the embassy? or can we do this already when we get the case number from NVC?

Hi Leah,

In order to schedule our medical, we had to complete the DS160, pay the visa application fee, and schedule our interview appointment. My fiancé had to provide his receipt for the visa fee and his interview appointment date to the medical facility in order schedule his medical appointment.

IOM will need to see the appointment date letter from NVC to schedule your medical. My wife tried to start early and get medicals done while she waited for the letter they refused. Once the appointment letter came they went ahead and scheduled one.

Hey guys,

I have an interview coming up soon. My concern is I have to serve notice at work up to end of Jan and my petition was extended up to 12th December. Does the petition validity become insignificant once your visa is issued or will it be an issue at POE, having an expired petition? I've read some threads on this forum on this but the responses are contradicting/not conclusive. I will highly appreciate to hear from someone who has some info on this.

Hi All,

My husband had his interview on Monday and was successful! He just got his passport back today. His experience was similar to many I've read here, just a couple things to note for those who have interviews coming up:

1) The interviewer asked my husband if he brought anything to show proof he had a place to live in the US. Luckily, he had brought a letter from my family inviting us to stay with them, but we hadn't thought we would actually need it. He thinks it would have probably been ok even if he hadn't had the letter, but I guess we'll never know for sure.

2) We brought more original signed copies of the affidavits of support, even though our attorney told us they wouldn't be needed since we had sent them to NVC. My husband said the interviewer spent 5+ minutes looking for the signed affidavits and had just told him that she didn't have a copy of my affidavit of support when she finally found it. So it turned out we didn't need it, but would recommend bringing it just in case it gets misplaced.

Congrats to you both!
