Hello all,

This is my first post, but I have gotten so much helpful information from reading this thread - thank you to all of you!

I have a question on fee payment for the K1 visa. I know that this has been asked in other posts, but I'm trying to get the most up-to-date information. My fiance is Ugandan, and we would like to schedule his interview in Nairobi. He just submitted the DS-160. How can we pay the fee if we don't know anyone in Kenya to assist us with Mpesa? He was going to use Mpesa in Kampala, but I read somewhere that it has been blocked in Uganda?

Any info you have would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Hi. I paid for my interview on 2nd November and was able to schedule for an interview within 5 hours. I don't know about Mpesa being blocked in Uganda because that's what I used right here in Kampala. You should try going to an Mpesa agent and confirm.just be sure to use one who will give you a receipt after payment.

Hi, my fiance was from uganda also, the way we handled it was to buy a safaricom Sim card and I added the money from here using moneygram so no funny business could go on. Meaning the agent in uganda couldn't steal the money we were adding to the Sim card as mobile money. I remember the exchange rate using money gram isn't so great so I added a few extra dollars and she used it to buy phone cards in kenya. I added the money and she paid quickly so we didn't have a problem. It worked out perfectly. Thank God since it is a lot of money.

How much time should we allow for the medical check-up?

Finally, since christmas is coming up, we were thinking to try our luck (again) at a non-immigrant visa here in Uganda, since we're *almost* done with this I was thinking he may be more likely to get it. Has anyone tried applying for a non-immigrant visa while their immigrant visa was in process? (of course we would come back here for the interview, etc).

Hi all joining the thread with hopes of getting my interview in the next couple months. 1st scan date 31 December, 2nd scan date 1 february. Quick question for cr1/ir1 applicants. how long after case complete were u all able to get an interview in nairobi?

Ah! Sorry, didn't see this until just now. We decided not to do that after all. My husband was concerned that it would mess up this application.

We are now in Nairobi, interview is on Monday! Just hoping that we have everything with us that we need.

Any last minute tips are welcome.

You get an email from the embassy, inviting you to go to a website to sign up for an interview date and then make an appointment for medical. We got that email on December 3rd, 2015 and the earliest interview date available was February 22nd, 2016. I'm not sure if the holidays that fell between played a roll in that or if there's usually a 2.5 month period between the email and the appointment availability.
