Family...how long after interview does it take Nairobi to issue the visa and are they only using DHL? The DHL in my husbands village has moved 2 hours away so we were looking at options. Thank you!

The paper we got says that it takes a week to get the passport back with the visa, but I have heard that it can take as few as 2-3 days. I hope that's true because we're just waiting now! They only use DHL. The locations they list are:

DHL House, Nyayo Stadium Roundabout

International House Mama Ngina Street

Yaya Centre Airwings Kodhek Road

Sarit Centre Westlands

Village Market Limuru Road

Ukumbusho House Treasury Square (Mombasa)

Vera Cruz Complex Lamu Road (Malindi)

West End Mall Kenyatta Avenue (Nakuru)

Our waiting time included a weekend so it's hard to tell exactly how long it took, but by the time my husband was able to track the visa online it had already been delivered to the DHL location. Much faster than we had expected. Probably 2-3 days.

My husband left Uganda today and will arrive here TOMORROW!!! It's a dream come true and I know all of you will be at this stage soon! Good luck!

Ok Sis that WAS fast....our interview is on a Monday. Maybe we will be blessed and its issued by the end of the week or could that be wishful thinking. lol lol

I got a question...interview is this month. What did you do with your cell phones when you went to the embassy? Was there some one to hold it there and did you have to pay that person?

You just have to turn them off. Actually I was surprised because the Kigali embassy makes you leave them at the gate, but they let us keep them on us in Nairobi.

Actually you have th turn the cell phones off, then hand them over to security. They are put in a security envelope together with any other stuff that are deemed a security risk

Anytime. The main thing is to be honest, look the CO in the eye and answer the questions. He or she will be typing away so it can get distracting, but some amount of nervousnes they understand but if the relationship is genuine you will be fine.

One thing, have the docs that they need upfront in a file or envelope. They might ask for photos and chat logs too...have those available in tabs so you are not fumbling around.

Thank you, My husband is normally quite calm but he may be a little excited as he calls it {nervous}, lol. I put all of the docs in pocket protectors by category ie AOS, IV, etc. Pictures in a photo album, chats in sections. I sent him a 3 ring binder with all of this stuff in it Priority International Express 3-5 days {$85} on the 2nd of Jan. it cleared customs on the 7th and says in route, but held by customs. How could it be cleared and now held I don't know. My husband says mail normally goes to another sort center before going to his local village I have put in a inquiry here in the US it takes 5 days for a response. I am hoping that it shows up soon.
