Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

With the numbers representing the number of electoral votes each state has. Seems to make my vote even more insignificant. Furthermore all the states above except Nebraska and Maine use a winner take all of the electoral votes for that state. So if your opponent gets one more popular vote than the guy you voted for, your vote is completely lost.

Another imbalance occurs in that every state regardless of size gets at least 3 electoral votes. See any states above with less than three? 270 electoral votes are required to win. Just win ten out of the 50 states and say the heck with the other 40. They are:

California - 55

Texas - 34

New York - 31

Florida - 27

Illinois - 21

Pennsylvania - 21

Ohio - 20

Michigan - 17

Georgia - 15

New Jersey - 15

North Carolina – 15

271 electoral votes.

Karl Rove knows all this stuff, 80% of the states don't even count, no matter how you vote. But then against the odds of this happening, your single vote can make all the difference in the outcome.

Oh, the above was done in the formation of this country as not all 13 colonies wanted to join the union in an attempt to give the smaller colonies a bit more say. Maybe necessary back then to form a union, but a lot has changed with 50 states in the union today. But the electoral system can give a strong advantage to a weak candidate with a good campaign manager as proven in the 2000 election. Feel it's time for an upgrade.

I would love to see an election where Texas votes with California and New York. That would be hilarious. And possible beget Armageddon. It's hard to say.
