True that. I see very few USA-grown fruits or veggies. So if illegals are helping us compete, they're not doing a very good job. ;)

It will just take money out of the pockets of the Fat Cats. When they can't pass the costs on to the consumer through higher prices then they will have to eat some costs until the consumer will pay a particular price.

It will just be the flip side of what happened 20+ years ago here in Texas...they hired the illegals to raise the bottom line going into their pockets.

My brother worked construction building houses in the late 1970's and through the 1980's until he couldn't work for the sh*t wages the Mexicans gladly worked for.

Boo-Hoo! I won't cry any tears for the Fat Cats that have to pay prevailing wages in an American economy.

It is about time their chickens came to roost!

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

Hmmm. A pretty decent house in our city is no more than $70,000 (high end).

My thoughts exactly..I live near Seattle and you cannot buy anything decent for that amount, unless you want to live in a high crime area.

Maybe Canuck Carrie meant a downpayment of 70k.

nope, believe it or not, there are some areas of the US where $70,000 will get you a half decent home in a (relatively) not bad neighbourhood. The house I live in now my father in law bought for only $42,000 and we've got nearly an acre of land with it. If you can tolerate the bigotry of the neighbours, its not so bad :P

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

Or just the annual taxes?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

That's what a house here costs, I guess we're lucky! Our taxes are low, our cost of living is great, clean air & no traffic .

I've seen them listed as low as $9000, I'm not sure what you'd get for that though. A 2 bedroom/1 bath house is $70k here (or under, usually $60k) in a decent, well kept area and we don't have much crime. We do have new subdivisions going up and they're about $120k for a 3 bed/2 bath with 2 garages.

Well, if one spends only 42K on a house with an acre of land around it, there ought to be enough money left for a decent fence or wall around that property. That'll take care of the neighbor issue... ;)

I just google mapped San Angelo... damn that is in the middle of nowhere! The nearest big city is almost 6 hours away :(

3 hours to Austin, 4 to San Antonio which isn't so bad.

Now back on topic... I'm wondering what other 'industries' are going to say that without illegals pricing will increase or they will close down. Having a baby in a hospital, car insurance, a night at the movies. All these scare tactics and boo-hooing will eventually start back-firing.
