I'm sorry I forgot to tell you, I'm still here in the Philippines waiting for my visa. The plan is that, I will fly from Philippines to Hawaii and meet my fiance there and get married then fly together to CA. This is possible right?

Absolutely. You will go through the same process my wife did when she entered the US through Immigration/Customs in HNL. When you go down the stairs to enter Immigration, you will turn left and go all the way to the end of the building, where you will check-in.

As someone else already mentioned, going through HNL is a pain. I always hated returning to HNL from overseas and going through Immigration/Customs... even as an USC!

Just be prepared for a possible long wait to get through Immigration. Just in case you were planning to fly to another island the same day you arrive. The flights arriving from MNL to HNL tend to have a lot of passengers, with many of them on Immigrant Visas. My wife and I got stuck behind one of those flights, and it took over an hour to get through.

Hawaii is a STATE just like the other 49 states, it even has a star on the US Flag. Just because you cannot drive there does not mean that it is outside the USA.

One note, if you do get married in Hawaii, the wait time for a marriage Cert, is LONG from some of the posts I have read.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

I am planning a trip to Hawaii this year from Texas

What type of currency do they use?

What is the exchange rate?

Do they have exchange booth for US Currency in Hawaii airport

1) US Dollars

2) The currency is pegged to the US Dollar so it is 1:1

3) Yes, you can exchange US dollars for US dollars... small fee though

Is Hawaii a state?

What happens if the plane had to divert and land outside the US due to atechinical problem or medical emergency to a person on board. Would you not encounter problems with immigration then? Just a query folks

Stuart

There is nowhere to divert, except back to CA! Even if it were to divert to Canada, which is WAY out of the way, other passengers won't necessarily be carrying their passports with them, so it would be more of an issue with Canada, which is the ONLY possible country to land in, not flying back into the US.

Let's be real here.

This is indeed the case. You either crash into the ocean or head back to CA. There is literally nothing for 2000 miles between HI and CA. You're not going to divert to Canada unless there is something completely catastrophic happening in the US, and flights can only land in Canada.

PS: I only know this because when I moved, I asked my husband what happens if we're low on fuel. Does the plane stop on an island halfway for refueling? He thinks he married a small-bus special person.

The plane? I THOUGHT that's what the seat cushions are for!

Well if you are flying to Hawaii and have a mechanical problem you better hope the plane floats.
